Sloan was diagnosed with Addisons Disease 🥺💔

Addison’s disease (hypoadrenocorticism) is an endocrine disorder caused by the adrenal glands failing to produce enough essential hormones, cortisol and aldosterone. Because these hormones regulate stress, blood pressure, and electrolytes. Although, Sloan's case was a little different, because her electrolyte levels were normal, but her blood sugar levels were extremely low, her cortisol was low, along with her white & red blood cells.
When hormone levels drop to critically low levels, it triggers a life-threatening medical emergency called an Addisonian crisis. Signs include:
• Severe, sudden collapse or inability to stand
• Dangerously slow heart rate or weak pulse
Which were the main symptoms I noticed in Sloan, along with loss of appetite, pale gums and sudden weight loss (she lost 5 pounds).

Addison's can be caused by damage to the adrenal glands from tumors, trauma, or certain medications, the most common cause is immune-mediated destruction, where the body's immune system attacks its own adrenal glands. Which happened to Sloan, her immune system attacked itself.

Lifelong hormone replacement therapy is required. This usually involves daily oral medications (like prednisone) and periodic injections (like DOCP or Zycortal) to keep electrolytes balanced. For Sloans case, because her electrolyte levels were normal she does not need the DOCP injections just the medication. To make sure the medication is doing it's job, Sloan will need to have bloodwork done every 3 months. This also means, in times she shows minor signs of this illness we must up her dose in medication and if that doesn't balance her back out, she has to go back to the veterinarian. In times of high arousal and stress, her dosage must be upped to help balance out the hormones as a precaution.

This has been a very scary experience and disease to learn about with Sloan in such a short period of time. I'm honestly trying to learn as much of this disease as I can to better understand to give her the best life possible with this disease.

Please give us grace, as we try to fight this disease 🤍🤍 by @marvelbiterz

All the traveling, training, seminars, workshops and trialing of 2026 - I did all of that with a brain tumor, growing bigger each day.

Then I thought it was just migraines, and I pushed through. I wasn't gonna let a silly headache stop me. When in reality my body was turning against me.

I never let is interfere with my goals with Carnage & Hydra. That's something I think is empowering, to look back at ALL the things I did with a brain tumor. To now look forward to ALL the things I can do moving forward after my cancer treatments.

These might be minor set backs, but I still have goals to achieve. I will not allow cancer to take this from me. We will come out atronger in the end. by @marvelbiterz

✨️Tumor Update✨️

I have been diagnosed with a type of skin cancer called Melanoma. The Melanoma developed somewhere on my body that is still unknown until I see a dermatologist to find the source of the cancer. Once we find the source, then I can begin radiation/chemotherapy treatments to make sure the tumor does not regrow on my brain. Which is the most important thing is not giving the tumor an opportunity to come back.

I honestly never would've suspected this all happened because of a type of cancer. That the cancer would spread to my brain and grow a tumor.

My neurosurgeon had suspected this was gonna be the results of the biopsy due to how the tumor looked. He recorded the surgery for me to watch (because I'm a weirdo and asked if that was a thing) he told me not to be alarmed when I see a giant black and bloody looking thing because that's usually how most Melanoma tumors look like.

For now, we have an answer to the biopsy. But healing and treatment is still going to be apart of my future. There's a plan to fight this and I will come out stronger. by @marvelbiterz

I'm gonna start by saying, I never shared this story publicly because I was brand new to PSA.

I now understand, that was wrong and I should've shared my story without the guilt of what may come. Especially since soo many women have been victims of men in this sport.

Back in 2019, I was invited and flown to Oceanside, California to participate in a decoy camp. My trip was paid for, flight and hotel was covered - as long as I was comfortable sharing a room with one of the male decoys. I agreed because I thought what a cool opportunity for me and my dog. I thought the guy would be safe and respectful of my space in a shared room. As the host of the camp assured me he'd be respectful. Reflecting back, as a woman I should've asked for my own room. I thought I would've been declined the opportunity for asking for my own room. So I settled for sharing.

The man, who was in the camp, that I shared a room with had exchanged numbers in case we needed to communicate about the room. Turns out that wasn't his intention. Instead he used it to threaten how easily he could've taken advantage of me when I was asleep. He wasn't scared of Sloan in bed with me. He mentioned all the things he could've done to me. He made me feel unsafe and uncomfortable. I felt like my head needed to be on a swivel after that.

My husband, boyfriend at the time had helped me get my own hotel room moving forward because the host had apparently not booked enough rooms for everyone over the weekend so when I tried to get a room under his name for the second night, that was supposed to be booked wasn't available to me. I felt like I was guaranteed a space to stay but instead there wasn't a room for me. Plus, after that first night of not feeling safe, i deserved my own room. I called my husband in a panic feeling like I was alone and stranded without a room and he had to call the hotel to help book me a room. Between the host of the camp not booking me a room I was promised, and the decoy I previously shared a room with. I was made to feel unsafe.

3 weeks without my dogs is the longest I've ever been away from them.

One of the hardest parts of my recovery is being away from them. But they are all in very good hands, living their best lives on vacation with people who adore them as much as I do.

I'm soo grateful for the time I got to spend with them at the beach. Letting them be dogs and have fun adventures outside of sports is what matters most. I'll forever cherish our time we had at the beach together. by @marvelbiterz

Kitana Van Horushuis Dutch Shepherd aka Hail Hydra

Hydra is officially one year old 🥰

This crazy girl, has been a wild dog but something feels so special about her. We've taken the first year of life slow so we could build a solid bond and a good foundation. She has her whole life ahead of her to do amazing things, and when my health is better I'm going to give her my everything.

But for now, she remains a feral creature who loves to body slam me full speed in the yard. Sticks her head into the voila pouch and steal all the training snacks. Yells at Carnage on the daily for existing but loving every single other dog. Tries to chase Nugget but adores Noodle and hates Freyja for smacking her on the nose 😂

I love this crazy psycho girlie 🩷🩷 by @marvelbiterz

One thing living in an area with limited PSA resources taught me was to take things slow. There's no point in rushing, let the puppy be a puppy, let the dog become a dog first. Build a bond and the foundations and everything else will fall into place.

You're young dog doesn't need to learn 30 different things before a year old. There's no reason to push them before maturity, physically & mentally, to trial as soon as they turn 14 months. Most that do that are pushed and rushed by others around them, or it fuels their ego that they can get a PDC and maybe a leg of a PSA1 before the dog is a year and a half old. Which isn't the flex people think it is. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. by @marvelbiterz
