David Chukwuka was the kind of person who made every room warmer just by walking into it. He had this energy about him, full of laughter, full of life, and he never once walked past someone who needed help. He loved the outdoors, he loved a challenge, and more than anything, he loved his people.

With permission from his family, on May 2nd, 2026, what would have been his birthday (May 1st), we are lacing up our shoes and hitting the Halifax Commons at sunrise to run 100 kilometres in his honour. Some of us will go the full distance. Some of us will run as a team. Some of us will just show up and run whatever we have in us that day. And honestly, David would have been fine with all of it, as long as we showed up.

We want this to be more than a run.

Every dollar raised through this campaign will go toward the David Chukwuka Memorial Scholarship, a fund that will support a student the way David supported everyone around him. Quietly, generously, and without ever asking for anything in return.

If you knew David, you already know why we are doing this. If you didn’t, we hope this gives you a small glimpse of the kind of person the world lost, and the kind of legacy worth running for.

You don’t have to run to be part of this. A donation of any size helps make sure that his warmth, his determination, and his generosity keep moving forward in the world long after we cross that finish line.

This is for everyone who’ve lost a loved one and you don’t need to be in Halifax to take part ♥️
