🍂Well that’s it, August is gone. I can smell my favourite season and cosy jammies are already on!
🍂 Here is where you can find our food this month!
🚚 We have our Taste of the Americas menu up now and available to purchase until Wednesday noon.
🇬🇷 We are sneaking in one last late summer vibes delivery by heading to Greece on 26th September before it really is all about the pumpkin.
🍁However if you are a bring on Autumn kind of person then you can find us at @the.yard.market this Saturday with @blendsmiths Pumpkin Chai Lattes and Chai Cookies made using their Chai. Oh and did I say Apple & Caramel Muffins and Cinammon Rolls.

We’ve made food this year from:

We began the year giving 7 young people an amazing 7 week introduction to hospitality thanks to @larickcentre @eh9.espresso and #FifeRuralDevelopmentFund

🇵🇸 With your help, we raised £2500 for @medicalaidpal by doing a home delivery of our Palestine menu and thanks to @susan_davie and @srmcnab we filled up the Larick Centre and loads of our small business pals gave us items to raffle off in our community meal.

We have catered events and have done some lovely markets with @the.yard.market and @larickcentre

Thanks for being such amazing customers and some of you supporting us since the start. Next year we are ten and can’t wait to bring you more!

💚 As it’s the New Year, our 10th and with new followers, here’s a little who & what is Marwick’s Vegan Kitchen.
🌱 In 2016 Mike & Lois Marwick opened a takeaway sandwich shop in Union Street in Dundee.
💚 In Jan 2018, after me (Lois) trying Veganuary early for a month, Mike and the Shop turned Vegan too. We became the first solely vegan place in Dundee.
🌱 We won some awards & were the first hospitality place in Dundee do the Living Wage & to offer Suspended Coffees.
💚 It became a busy Cafe with Zero Waste shop & then as we outgrew the space we moved along the road to a pop up in a 60 cover restaurant.
🌱 In Jan 2020 just as we were about to secure our permanent home covid came & so we began operating out of our converted kitchen at home.
🌎 What began as lockdown deliveries to help you Travel The Word Through Food has become our bread and butter and so far we’ve taken you to 30 different cuisines and always trying new ones.
💚 We’ve done Food Festivals, Markets, Weddings, Catering, Fundraising Meals, Pop Up Dinner Clubs & last year we did a 7 week training course for young people looking to get an Introduction to Hospitality.
🛍️ We also have been the Pop Up Cafe at @the.yard.market for several years now too.
🗓️ This year we are continuing our Round The World Home Deliveries fortnightly on a Friday. We will be adding in Mid Week Deliveries too. We have a new Catering Menu & will be relaunching our Online Sustainable Shop.
💚 It’s been a journey for sure & somehow we are still here. I’m so grateful to all the family, friends & staff that helped us along the way. Even years later our old staff still feel like family and they literally saved our lives!
🚸 Now we have our children all interested in food now & so it’s something we want to build & grow for them.
🌱 Veganism may not be in vogue as it was but I still believe in it. The world needs compassion more now than ever. We are constantly looking at ways to be more ethical & sustainable. We are by no means perfect, but we are trying to live a more simple life & hope you can come on a journey with us too.

🍂 It’s feeling very Autumnal today!
🍏 We have been experimenting the last few weeks with seasonal vegetables in our Round The World Food. This beautiful cakes is the Greek Milopita made with walnuts, raisins, cloves, cinnamon and locally picked apples!
🇮🇹 September was all about Greece, but October is all about Italy, starting with @vegfestfife this Sunday!

💫It’s here! Today is the first day of Falastin Film Festival in Dundee & Fife💫

🤗We’re looking forward to seeing you later for Gaza Lives! at ScrapAntics, to kick start the festival.

‼️We have some important practical information

📍Location: This screening takes place at ScrapAntics Community Hub on the top level of the Wellgate Centre. The Wellgate closes at 6pm but we have been given permission to open late, however, this means that everyone leaving the event has to exit by the rear doors at the Wellgate Steps, Victoria Road or the car park.

‼️Please aim to arrive at the event by 5:45pm. We recommend you use the rear doors at the Wellgate Steps, Victoria Road or the car park as the Wellgate front entrance closes at 6pm.

⏰Event Schedule:
5:45-6pm - Arrival and Introductions
6:10pm - Film screening (Feature: ‘One More Show’ ; Shorts: ‘Soft Skin’ & ‘Glasgow to Gaza’)
7:40pm - Food and conversation
8:20pm - Event closes

🍽️ Food at Falastin Film Festival

Our events aren’t just about film: they are also gatherings for conversation and solidarity… fuelled by good food!

🇵🇸 Food is such an important part of Palestinian culture and we eat together in solidarity and anguish at the continued struggle for nourishment and resources, imposed on Palestinians under occupation.

🍅 Gaza Lives! will feature a delicious Middle Eastern inspired community meal from @marwickskitchen : a rich stew of okra, garden tomato and pomegranate molasses. Served with Khobez flatbreads and dips. Marwick’s Vegan Kitchen is a family business based in North East Fife, who aim to make plant based food tasty for everyone and help you travel the World through food (Thursday 6 PM, @scrapantics )

🍋 For Energy for Liberation, @iraqithistle have designed a mezze spread using seasonal produce and a homage to Palestinian and Gulf flavours. Expect Allayat Bandora (fried tomatoes) on Rumaniya (pomegranate and lentil stew), roasted carrots with dried limes on creamy hummus, with bread and roast potatoes. Iraqi Thistle are a small home catering service based in Perthshire, blending Middle Eastern classics with local seasonal Scottish produce. (Saturday 5 PM, @forgan_arts_centre )

🥙 Dundee favourite Beirut provide hearty sustenance for our closing films and discussions at Gaza Transmits, with their signature falafel, spicy potatoes, dips, breads and more. (Sunday 4 PM, @generatorprojects )

Join a community screening which highlights the hope and joy of creativity, amid adversity.

🎪 In feature documentary ‘One More Show’, we follow the Free Gaza Circus @free.gaza.circus as they are displaced by genocide but continue to perform for children across Gaza.

🎨 Short film ‘Soft Skin’ reveals the making of a stop motion animation film, with children telling their everyday stories of life under Israel’s bombardment.

🎬 ‘Glasgow to Gaza’ is an animation created by children in Scotland with @thepenpalcollective to be sent as a message of solidarity to children in Gaza @gaza_collective & @jawadcamp1

After the films, please stay for discussion and a delicious community meal (vegan and halal) provided by @marwickskitchen

⭐️ MENU LAUNCH
🇬🇷 September is the month of Greece. We are stealing that last bit of sunshine, putting a seasonal twist on it and making it a Taverna style Meze

📦 Our Taste of Greece box is available as a click and collect @the.yard.market this Saturday in Broughty Ferry from 12-4pm. Order by Friday noon.

🚚 And the whole menu is available for delivery next Friday 25th in Fife from 12-3 and Dundee 3-6. Order by Wednesday noon.

Another catering event this weekend and a 40th birthday at that…….. Did you know Mike spends as much time time thinking up the names of the dishes sometimes as the actual dish for a new menu 😉

My favourites are ‘Truffle Shuffle Burger’ (as I am a Goonies fan) and ‘Orzo you thought’ as it’s pure cheeze!

This weekend Mike had to make the Texas Lonestar and in true ND style I have been singing Norah Jones all weekend. Although next weekend when he to make Wrap of Gods I might need to limber up 🙌

Jasmine has always wanted to be one of those people who comes up with the names of paint, but I think Mike could name every hex code with a punny name!

Look at the colourful catering we just dropped off for a @mothersagainstgenocidescotland event at @forgan_arts_centre

Last year we did two fundraising events for Palestine and raised over £2500 for @medicalaidpal

We stock @palestine_cola_uk and gave them some today to wash down the food.

I was taking photos of Mike garnishing the food and saw his Palestine bands he’s been wearing a variation from for over a year now and it made me smile. He got them from SPSC last year and then we added to all his colours from an amazing wee shop in the Barras.
