A young #MikeSabath showing up in style for his first Grammy win in 2020 sporting my tiny gold plated twisted wire tree pin that he commissioned. Thrilled that Mike Sabath used my work as inspiration for his much-anticipated new album, The Land of the Twisted Tree. My metal twisted tree sculpture happened to be in a guesthouse Mike was renting, and he placed it on top of his piano. In a video on his IG post, he states, “I had this metal twisted tree that was sitting above my piano. It was a sculpture my friend had made, and I didn’t know at the time, but that tree ended up actually being the center of the whole album! Something we were trying to achieve was like bringing that metallic texture into the record, and literally we were looking at the tree, and we made this sound which is kind of the sound of the tree…”
