Bachata

I titled my sculpture Bachata, because the side-to-side motion and joyful energy of the dance resonated with me, as did the origin of the term which is African, and refers to a lively gathering or party.

There are many steps to my process, but although labor intensive and rather slow, it puts me in a state of calm. Calm is the recurring word I hear from viewers when they see the finished piece, which feels good to me given the messy upheaval our world is in. Stay tuned for this piece once finished, and let me know if it brings you calm.
