My piece, “Pruning Season” for the group show “New Beginnings,” opening this Thursday at @moderneden gallery. Inquiries can be made to the gallery. 🖤

I’ve had her in my head for a while, and when I stumbled upon this Edwardian photograph, I knew it was the perfect reference to finally bring her to life.

Pen,ink, graphite on paper. Tend your own garden.

“There you are…” I created this piece for the group show “The Weight of Feeling”, opening August 6th at @moderneden gallery.
In my mind, I envisioned creating a piece about the deep love we carry for those special ones we’ve lost. I’ve come to realize that grief never truly leaves us, it simply changes shape as we move through life.
🖤This group show is opening alongside the solo exhibits of @lbustamante and @magicmakerdreamweaver

Back in August, I had a guy walk up to my booth at midsummer scream and ask “Huh, so you mostly only draw women?” while perusing my work. When he was walking away he said “Next time maybe don’t leave men out.” To which his girlfriend, who was perusing with him, responded by smacking his stomach and exclaiming to him “Men literally have everything and are everywhere, she doesn’t need to include men.”
Anyway I really hope she’s having a good day.

Hey so we’re all trying to enjoy our October. I get it. I do hope everyone is finding happiness right now while continuing to amplify the injustice we’re witnessing and being subjected to in whatever way you’re able. This crap cannot continue being swept under the rug. by @marysyring

“As it ever was”, this piece will be on view at @moderneden gallery starting this Thursday October 1st!
I really wanted to depict these Victorian women’s self defense gloves in the last two slides, since they’re a wonderful representation of how society hasn’t changed at all. You’ll see 57 little pomegranate seeds here that need to be swiftly devoured. #believewomen

This piece was created traditionally with pen, ink, and graphite.

We’re delighted to introduce another incredible talent, Mary Syring, who will also be a part of the performance lineup for our October 16th show at Mabuhay Gardens (443 Broadway in SF).

*******

Mary Syring is a San Franciscan actor and artist. Her comedy blends deadpan delivery with storytelling. The weirder, the better.
When she’s not onstage, she works as a full time traditional artist, creating work layered with Victorian Gothic symbolism, and inspired by historical and fictional narratives.

What the hell is this, the rapture? Why are all our favorite comfort people getting out of dodge right now? I know Diane was 2025 but she gets an honorable mention.
