Is this boss or what. Box hedges and spindly pink bistort blooms under the shade of gnarled apple trees. The kitchen garden at Arne Maynard’s Appleton Manor. ‘A vegetable garden is immediately satisfying,’ says Maynard.

S P R I N G !
Books are open for the first time for spring consultations-typically reserved for our existing clients. Why? Because it’s going to be a GORGEOUS SPRING this year. I can feel it.
These can definitely be done through FaceTime if you are not nearby.
Message SPRING and we’ll get you on the books. Spots are limited. ✨ by @marytalbot

Ever get hung up on a certain color?

I’m on a blue garden kick, these days.

I find that when looking to add true blue to a garden, we often veer into the purples, or get stuck on hydrangeas. Designing this blue wildflower mix for here at the farm. I’ll seed them along what I call the Ramble, really just a long hedgerow where I often walk.

(In the country, even the most non-descript areas seem to need a name, otherwise it becomes tiresome trying to explain ‘I was out by the hedgerow…no, no, not the one to the south of the house, the one between the triangle field and the cemetery field….no, no, towards the North end of it…past the pigs…no before the pasture well, yes, on the west side of it…yes that’s where I saw the fox.’)

Ha! Anyway, for the Ramble:
Anchusa capensis, Borago officinalis, Centaurea cyanus, Linum usitatissimum, Lupinus perennis, Lupinus texensis, Nemophila menziessii

@thegorgeousgardens What is there to say? Someone has finally created a show partially about my hero CZ Guest. I have never, ever been able to get enough of her. Her books were the beginning of my education as a gardener. She famously once said ‘I’ve always felt that having a garden is like having a good and loyal friend.’
Hey, with friends like these…😂.

The Trough Waterfall at Chatsworth. The story goes that the Dowager Duchess and 11th Duke redesigned the remains of a ravine garden created by their predecessor ‘Granny Elvie,’ using various water troughs found scattered around the estate. I love this for a lot of reasons, the main one being that it is just very pretty to me. But also because I always encourage my clients who have family properties to see themselves as more than just good stewards of family resources. It’s so wonderful for each generation to leave a mark, and over time, there develops a rich secret history to the place.

Over the years I’ve collected a vast trove of garden images which inspire me. I want to share them, so I’ve been posting over @thegorgeousgardens if you’re interested in seeing more.

This gorgeous song was in my texts when I woke up this morning. Such a great way to start the day. Written and produced by my sweet old pal @markedgarstuart Performed by @baileybigger It’s a perfect day here in the delta…the day of the year when you walk outside and all is suddenly lush and green. And this is the perfect soundtrack. by @marytalbot

A little late, but wanted to share Mom’s Easter table. She always does it so well. We are in love with the Lily of the Valley tablecloths from @mrsaliceshop by @marytalbot
