I’m not usually one to post myself crying like this, but currently my friend, a 17 year old boy who I’ve known well for over 5 years, is missing. This is not the case of your typical run away. He was making plans in his normal life, he wants to come back to in person classes rather than online school, he wants a normal senior year with his friends. These are not the wishes of someone who drops everything and doesn’t tell a soul.
Also I am aware of my talking in passed tense. This is not because he is deceased. It was a mistake on my part.
Any outlets who wish to gain more information can reach out to me on here or to his mother via cell number. I would be more than happy to answer and questions.
We cannot let Hendrix become another story of a “runaway teen” who’s never brought home. Talk about him. Say his name before it’s too late. taken in Kenner, Louisiana by @marzisnt

I wanted to post sooner but I had to find my words.
This isn’t an award I asked for—or even thought I could achieve. I was chosen by the amazing staff at Thomas Jefferson academy, but this post isn’t for them. This post is for you all. My friends and my peers. The people who make everything I do possible. I get asked almost every day “how do you do it all?” And my answer is always “I just do!” But the truth is, it’s you guys. It’s the people who show up to the club meetings and events I plan, who read the work I put out, and who show up to the theater performances. It’s the people who smile in the halls and wave in the gym in the morning. Every single student at TJ, whether or not we’ve interacted, is so very important to me.
To my fellow seniors—I am so thankful for you all, you’ve been so supportive and kind and I will never be able to repay that fully. Believe me though when I say I’ll try.
To the underclassmen—I’m so excited to see where you guys take this school. Those of you I’ve gotten to work with in clubs and projects are so intelligent and inspiring. TJ is in good hands.
To the two other amazing women I was nominated alongside— You both blow me away every single day with your achievements. I’m so grateful to have had this experience with you both.
Finally, to my friends. I hope you all know I love you. I hope that that goes without saying (even though I know I say it in excess). I’m so proud of you all, and if there was a way for me to share this award, just know that you’d all be with me in the trenches of this district SOTY application.

Here we go y'all, our judge, Brad Richard's (@bradrichard1382) selection for this year's Public High School (All Genres) writing contest: Marz Lucas' "Eyeshadow (and Other Reasons to Think of Her)," a student at NOCCA and @thomasjeffacademy! Brad also chose two runners up, Temi Durojaye's "My Mother's Tongue" and Presley Rogers' "Cedar Lines." Temi is a student at William B. Travis High School, and Presley is a student at NOCCA.
