The Future of Mas: is being shaped in real time by multiple pressures at once.

Commodification changes the incentives.

Cultural attrition erodes meaning, memory & belonging.

Conformity is what starts showing up when both go unchecked.

These forces don’t operate separately. They feed each other.

It's important to name and dig down into what is felt a little bit each year or with each road. Something is a lil off.

Both protector and lookout. The Moko Jumbie is rooted in our histories of freedom and resistance, moving through the Mas, at once presence and protector.

They perform. They witness. They hold the past while scanning the horizon for what's approaching. Foresight in practice.

The ability to stand in the now, see further than most, and move with intention. The Moko Jumbie is Mas4ward's spirit figure for a reason.

After each Mas, the 'Post -Carnival Bacchanal' ensues online, begging the questions... How resilient can this ting remain amid growing commercialization; fading cultural rootedness and inconsistent product quality?

How do we protect what has made and makes Mas special (CULTURE) while preparing for its globalized future?

While spirited online debates bring about many valued perspectives and suggestions, fragmented conversations on social media need a space to be analyzed and actioned.
