Today I’ve got a message from previous life where I was working as an artist on the latest @harrystyles video directed by @tanumuino and wonderful talented team !

It feels surreal.

A month before the war* began I rented quite spacious space in order to transform it to my art-studio in Kyiv, renovation was in full mode, I dreamed of moving in and how I’ll be working there creating this kind of big scale artworks.

I have no doubt this will happen very soon when we win and Ukraine will blossom like this magic forest on my drawing !

* Russia brutally invaded Ukraine on Feb 24th, thousands of people has died, among them around 144 children. Me and Ivan were forced to leave our home in Kyiv running away from war. We’re still in Ukraine.

P.S. Harry took all this painted set home :) taken in Ukraine by @mashareva

For our latest edition of WORST ADVICE FOR ARTISTS, Christine Hauptmann @meandthecomputer sat down with Ukrainian artist Masha Reva @mashareva to talk about the advice that shaped her, the expectations she chose to unlearn, and what it means to build an artistic practice entirely on your own terms.

Moving between painting, fashion and design, Reva refuses to be confined to a single medium or definition of what an artist should be. Her work is equally rooted in experimentation, self-acceptance and the realities of living and working in Ukraine during the full-scale war.

We’re excited to have had the chance to speak with Masha Reva for KUBAPARIS and unpack the advice worth questioning, the freedom that comes from ignoring expectations, and why, in her words, joy should always remain part of the process.

First I thought that I would write a little something on how I feel as an another exercise, fuck it. Recent weeks have been heavy sometimes, I drew and paint anyways and that’s what I’ve got. taken in Kyiv, Ukraine by @mashareva

Wearing dress I made from Ivan’s great grandma’s vintage silk velvet and my workwear - these two outfits pretty much represent both sides of my personality.
