Hugely powerful words today from Indu Rubasingham at @NationalTheatre delivering the Jennie Lee Lecture. I was so captivated I didn’t manage to capture them verbatim, but one message really stayed with me: Through theatre, we track down the loneliness within communities. Yet currently, 93% of children in state schools are being excluded from the arts. Theatre is a vital connection to human wellbeing. What Jennie Lee did, was create an act of faith in the future.
Beyond the words spoken today, it was the incredible people in the room who made today even more special — what a privilege to be among them. So proud of what our small and mighty team at @thesparkarts do to provide cultural experiences to all children of Leicester. Spark Festival 2026 landing soon 16-24 May ❤️ taken in National Theatre by @mashitheatre
