CHOREOGRAPHER ANNOUNCEMENTKatherine Helen Fisher is this year's selected National Women's Equality Day Choreographic Residency Artist. We are THRILLED to have her in the studio setting new work on our MashUp dancers. Learn more about Katherine below and stay tuned for updates on the work in progress. The premiere of the new work will take place this August 29th + 30th @picklefactory_frogtown (2828 Gilroy Street) *Ticket link in bio* Katherine Helen Fisher is an artist working across dance, film, installation, and computational media. Her work treats the body as an interface and performance as a site for friction, pleasure, refusal, and institutional critique.A former member of Lucinda Childs Dance Company, she has also performed with the Merce Cunningham Trust, in Einstein on the Beach, and with MOMIX, Johannes Wieland, Jennifer Muller/The Works, ODC, and PearsonWidrig DanceTheater, among others.Her projects move between stage, screen, and machine systems, using cameras, algorithms, archives, and real-time generative tools and performative objects to question future imaginaries. .Her work has been presented at Judson Church, REDCAT, Human Resources, Barnard Movement Lab, Brown Arts Institute, Jacob’s Pillow, and on PBS. She is co-founder of Safety Third, an award-winning creative studio producing films and digital media, and Hyperreal Labs, a creative technology studio developing interactive experiences at the intersection of AI, performance, and design. She also directs The Desert Door Rest + Resilience Artist Retreat in Joshua Tree, California.She was a Visiting Assistant Arts Professor at NYU Tisch and is currently an ONX Onassis Fellow.Photo Credit: Maria Baranova by @mashupdance
