@niihalifax with all due respect, if I steal your phone or defraud you of your MoMo, would you excuse me simply because I am unemployed, or would you report me to the police? Why then should unemployment become a convenient excuse for defending misconduct?

What is particularly concerning is that Shatta Wale made these remarks in the presence of the CID boss and thousands of people, yet a journalist of your calibre is defending his conduct on radio. Since when did unemployment become a justification for promoting fraud?

The real issue here is not Shatta Wale’s fame, but the principle of equal justice. If an ordinary Ghanaian can be arrested and prosecuted for MoMo fraud while a celebrity faces no accountability for conduct to promote fraud, what message are we sending to the public?

Justice must never be selective. Unemployment may explain economic frustration, but it cannot justify criminal conduct. And if we expect ordinary citizens to respect the law, we must be prepared to hold influential people to the same standard.

The law must not be strict for the poor and negotiable for the powerful.

That is not justice, it is a dangerous double standard.

When an influential artiste like Shatta Wale makes comments perceived as glorifying fraud in the presence of the CID boss, it raises serious questions about public responsibility and equal treatment under the law.

The issue is not celebrity rivalry, it is accountability. If ordinary citizens can face scrutiny for their public statements, should influential personalities be judged by a different standard?

This is not a call for persecution, but for fairness, consistency and due process.

A nation cannot preach accountability to the powerless while making excuses for the powerful. Is the law truly equal for all, or does influence determine who answers for their words?
