You can call me “Masked Man.” I’m keeping my name private because asking for help is new to me, and honestly, I feel ashamed that I’m in this position. Sharing this is difficult, but I’m trying to remind myself that needing help doesn’t erase everything I’ve worked for.

I’m 25 years old, work 50 hours a week, and attend college online late at night. I’m 77% finished with my bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, have a 4.0 GPA, and am on the honor roll. Behind those accomplishments are a lot of long days and late nights spent trying to build a stable future.

Recently, I fell victim to an internet scam and lost over $60,000. That loss has put me in serious financial hardship and left me afraid of losing what I’ve worked so hard to build—including the chance to finish my degree.

The impact has gone far beyond money. My self-esteem has taken a major hit, and I’ve been struggling with heavy depression because of my situation. It’s hard to explain how painful it is to keep showing up at work and completing assignments while privately feeling overwhelmed and unsure how to move forward. Reaching out means admitting I can’t handle all of this alone, and that has been one of the hardest parts.

I’m hoping to raise $30,000, roughly half of what I lost. I know that’s a large goal. These funds would help me address debt, cover essential living expenses, and stay enrolled in school while I work to regain financial stability. I’m continuing to work and take responsibility for rebuilding, but I need some support to get through this.

If you’re able to donate, any amount would make a difference. If you can’t, sharing this fundraiser would mean so much to me too. I understand that others are facing their own hardships, and I’m grateful to anyone who takes a moment to read my story.

More than anything, I want to finish what I started and get back to a place where I feel hopeful about my future. I’m trying to believe that this chapter doesn’t have to define the rest of my life.

I’m trying to stay in college while paying down debt, so I’m asking for $5. That’s less than a fancy coffee and roughly the cost of one textbook page.
