I am very excited to announce a new initiative; aiming to foster a sense of community, connection and support. Let’s come together.
@kingsofconnection

Young adulthood is complicated, and there are numerous paths to take. As young Black men, the color of our skin adds layers to the already complex process of growing up. In a world that is evolving and changing, we must continue to come together. Our organization aims to listen to and empower the voices of young Black men, destigmatize vulnerability as a sign of weakness, establish open communication, and support the goals of each member as we embark on our unique journeys. The future is bright for us all.

I am excited to announce that I will be attending the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law this Fall!

What an eventful 14 months it has been. In May, 2025, I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government and Politics. Attending the University of Maryland was one of the most formative and empowering experiences of my entire life. As an undergraduate student, I was surrounded by a community of peers, faculty, and administration who believed in me and supported my journey as I endeavored to discover my place and role on campus and in society at large.

In the spring semester of my senior year, I was admitted to the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and was granted a deferral year to gain experience outside the classroom.

Following graduation, I moved to California, miles away from family, friends, and a campus that I called home for four years. During this time, I pursued my lifelong passion for acting, auditioning for and receiving opportunities in television and film. Noticing that there was a lack of community for young Black men post-college and in early adulthood, I created “King’s of Connection”, an organization connecting young men from both the east and west coasts. This initiative promotes conversations surrounding goal-setting and invites industry professionals to mentor and share career advice. Taking some time to experience a new environment and new circumstances provided a plethora of gifts, including wisdom, self-discovery, and a community of relationships, friends, and mentors whom I am so thankful to have met.

Both my undergraduate experience and my journey away from home have inspired my certainty and excitement for the next chapter. This Fall, I will be attending the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Looking forward to all the amazing learning, connecting, and growth that is in store. The future is bright for us all. by @masonminus
