Last night over 1400 people gathered at the National Convention Centre to celebrate the 2026 Master Builders and @AssetConstructionHire Excellence Awards.

And it did not disappoint!

251 entries, 235 finalists and 62 winners!

Meet the 2026 Master Builders and @AssetConstructionHire Excellence Awards Project of the Year from @Lendlease Construction.

The new ANZAC Hall and Atrium, delivered by Lendlease Construction for the Australian War Memorial, is a shining example of heritage integration and engineering prowess.

In this project of true national significance, the Lendlease team have delivered one of the most complex and technically ambitious public buildings ever constructed in Australia.

Designed to respectfully expand the Australian War Memorial’s heritage precinct, the project integrates advanced engineering with masterful craftsmanship.

📢 What our judges thought.
‘This is a major contemporary heritage project of note, requiring excellence at a grand scale. This has most certainly been achieved.’

Meet the 2026 Master Builders and @AssetConstructionHire Excellence Awards House of the Year from Gen5 Constructions and Habitat Constructions NSW.

At first glance, this Turner residence, built by Gen5 Constructions in collaboration with Habitat Constructions NSW, gives a somewhat restrained impression.

But behind the unassuming façade lies one of Australia's most technically ambitious homes: a fully certified Passive House Plus home that shows that sustainable construction doesn’t have to mean scrimping on luxury.

2026 Master Builders and @AssetConstructionHire Excellence Awards - Commercial Construction $20million to $50million

In Canberra’s Acton precinct, Shaw Building Group has delivered a vital 24/7 facility for ACT Fire and Rescue and the ACT Ambulance Service, combining innovation, sustainability and technical excellence.

Built on undeveloped land within a BAL29 bushfire zone, the project required extensive civil works, including 30,000 cubic metres of engineered fill to stabilise the site. Its location beside Sullivans Creek and a major arterial road added further complexity, demanding careful coordination and governance throughout.

A key innovation resolves the challenge of balancing bushfire compliance with emergency response times. A first-of-its-kind self-activating external sprinkler system uses ultraviolet flame detection to trigger pumps from an integrated water supply, protecting against ember attack and radiant heat without compromising operational readiness.
