𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁.

Dust, fumes, chemicals, noise, psychosocial, manual handling and repetitive lifting can affect construction workers’ health long after they leave the site.

This National Safe Work Month, take time to review how your business is protecting your workers’ health and wellbeing. Reviews are a critical way to ensuring your risk mitigation strategies are sufficient.

Whatever WHS system you have in place, regular reviews can help you identify gaps and areas for improvement. Master Builders Australia’s HAFF WHS diagnostic and practical resources can support you to review and strengthen your approach to safety. *

*Always check the WHS legislative requirements that apply in your state or territory.

This week: review your WHSMP, check out the diagnostic tool, choose one risk on a current project and see if any improvements can be made.

𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Anyone who works in construction knows what goes into delivering a project. There are early starts, difficult decisions, unexpected problems and plenty of work that never makes it into the finished photos.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿.

They recognise the skill, care and commitment behind the work. They give builders, apprentices and their teams a chance to step back, celebrate what they have achieved and share that moment with the people who helped them get there.

National recognition means something. It gives clients confidence, helps a business build its reputation and gives the whole team something to be proud of.

It also shows the next generation what a career in construction can lead to.

At Master Builders Australia, we’re proud to celebrate the people setting the standard for our industry.

These forecasts provide further evidence that policy is moving in the wrong direction and needs to change course.

Builders are calling for a pro-construction agenda that removes unnecessary regulation, improves the investment environment and fixes the systems they rely on, including the National Construction Code, skilled migration settings and domestic training pathways. by @masterbuildersaust

As reported, we're forecasting a 262,000-home shortfall against the National Housing Accord target. Governments need a pro-construction agenda, reverse supply-reducing tax changes, cut unnecessary regulation, improve investment settings and strengthen workforce pathways. by @masterbuildersaust

Discussing our updated construction forecasts, CEO Denita Wawn told the Australian “I do find it quite incredulous that by the government’s own admission in its federal budget papers, it modelled that we would have a decline in the supply of new homes at a time when they said they just wanted to focus on supply, supply, supply."

Builders stand ready to meet community demand, despite rising costs. Governments must remove the policy barriers holding them back. by @masterbuildersaust

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻. 𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀?

This week, the RBA lifted the cash rate to 4.60%. Today, Master Builders Australia’s latest forecasts show Australia is expected to fall 𝟮𝟲𝟮,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 of its National Housing Accord target.

Builders are facing pressure from both directions. Higher borrowing costs and falling property values are making buyers more cautious, while labour shortages and material costs leave little room to move on price.

If you’re deciding what work to take on, when to invest or whether to grow your team, understanding where the industry is heading matters.

𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 to hear from Master Builders Australia CEO Denita Wawn, Chief Economist Shane Garrett and builder Frank Porecca.

We’ll unpack the latest five-year forecasts across residential, non-residential and civil construction, including the outlook for every state and territory.

What does the slowdown mean for your pipeline? Where is work expected to grow? And what needs to change to get more homes built?

Bring your questions for the live Q&A.

Working towards Federal Safety Commissioner accreditation?

Master Builders Australia has launched a new range of free WHS resources to support builders through the accreditation process.

Start with the WHS Readiness Diagnostic to see where your current systems are working well and where you may need to do more. You can then access practical guidance, checklists and templates covering key areas aligned with the accreditation requirements, including:

🔹 Leadership and governance
🔹 Risk management and safe design
🔹 Consultation and subcontractor management
🔹 Emergency planning, worker health and incident management

The accreditation process can be complex. These resources are designed to help builders understand what is required, identify gaps early and strengthen their WHS systems before progressing further.
