I would have never imagined that 8 years ago when I first got discharged the hell & anguish I would go through to get my shoulder back & the amount of change I would have undergone. If I’m completely honest I should be too dead to even post this right now. If I made one wrong move, didn’t trust my instincts, never split my last burger in half & broke bread with the homies who were less fortunate than me (I was disabled, homeless, and jobless living off 400 a month at the time), or sold my soul for personal gain & disregarded my friends I made along the way that helped me get to this point that were there with me through the blood, sweat, & tears I had to put myself though in order to finally gain back what the of cost of fighting for my freedom was. I definitely got a lot worse before I started getting better, but remember y’all, recovery isn’t a straight line. I’ve worked till my feet bled, till I spit blood even, till I dropped of heat stroke induced seizures, even until my legs fell out of their hip sockets & had to crawl up my stairs with a broken arm after taking off my work clothes. I still remember the sleepless nights, the silent tears, the battle with depression and suicidal thoughts that almost drove me to act upon them in order to escape what I thought was an unreal nightmare. The constant disassociation & DPDR (Depersonalization and Derealization Disorder) I developed to cope with my new reality, & the constant battle just to see tomorrow, wether it was getting a meal, a place to stay, or taking work that ultimately worsened my physical & mental health because in my condition; I was never stable enough to hold a job long term, even if I enjoyed it. Probably even more than most people would ever be able to imagine, let alone be alive after experiencing. Thank you guys, every single one of you. The friends & family that helped & supported me through this, & the “friends & family” that didn’t care enough to do anything else than just sit back & watch me struggle or rooted for my demise. Y’all made me realize that to do it, I had to do it myself. You pushed me to keep going. Even if it was in spite of myself.
