Something I wish every parent knew about their child 👇

There’s a study that changed the way we understand childhood — and most people have never heard of it.

It’s called the ACEs study. ACEs stands for Adverse Childhood Experiences — things like stress at home, instability, loss, or difficult situations a child might be going through that no one can see from the outside.

The research found something powerful: when children experience these kinds of challenges, it can quietly affect how their brain develops. How they regulate emotions. How they learn. How they relate to other people.

And here’s the thing — it doesn’t show up as sadness.

It often shows up as the child who gets frustrated easily.
The one who gives up before they’ve even tried.
The one who seems distracted, or disconnected, or just a bit lost.

The question isn’t “what’s wrong with them?”

It’s “what are they carrying?”

But the study didn’t just uncover the problem. It pointed to the solution too.

Supportive adults. Safe environments. A sense of belonging. Positive relationships. Opportunities to grow.

That’s where sport comes in — and why we take what we do seriously.

When a child walks through our gates, we don’t just see a player. We see a young person who might be having the toughest week of their life — and we know that one encouraging word from a coach, one moment of feeling like they belong, one team that actually wants them there, can change something in them that goes far beyond football.

⚽ Every session is a safe space.
🤝 Every coach is a positive role model.
💪 Every player is seen, supported, and pushed to grow.

The pitch is where confidence is built. And confidence built here follows them everywhere else.
