New York City is the first city I ever lived in. It was 1998 and my best friend (to this day) and I moved to the city and met another set of best friends and we all moved into a one bedroom apartment together on Thompson Street. I don’t know who took this photo but this was the view we saw every day. We all worked downtown, Volpes and I in World Trade Two. We had a black and white TV, no vacuum and an oven that didn’t work for over a year. We bought Thai food with our overtime checks and watched 90210 together. I walked through Tribeca every morning to work and accidentally walked (a few times) through Law and Order being filmed, once in a snowstorm and Jesse L Martin yelled at me that this was a set. I never felt cooler. I was a baby business lady in the best city in the world. JFK Jr asked to share my newspaper once. It’s been 25yrs and I still remember the stories the lawyers and secretaries told us as paralegals about how scary the 1993 bombing was. Volpes and I were living in Boston on 9/11. I was working for John Kerry and saw them start towing the cars from Logan Airport when they realized a plane came from there. I don’t think a 9/11 will ever pass without this sadness and tears for how horrific what happened that day was, profound gratitude that my friends were OK, taking the day to remember how brave people were in the broadest sense of the word, and the wondering how, no matter where I’ve lived, that crisp perfect blue sky always finds me.

Ok here I go: what a celebration of joy, pride, love, excellence, friendship and fellowship. I feel like the luckiest human to know these people. People wonder if we really all love each other this much. Yes, yes we do.

A lil tour of the day:

Pfeiffer, Howli and I made our way to the center and didn’t forget to stop and take a pic. Not pictured: we got granola bars, umbrellas and a banana for the walk.

Plouffe, Smoot and I took cocktails to the Oval and enjoyed a moment with the Resolute desk. And @michaelsmithinc vibes felt intact.
