Here's some evidence of the eighth annual @brooklynartbookfair - This year was wild, lots of curveballs, lots of love, lots of MAKING IT HAPEN ANYWAY 🦋💙🐟📚📘🩵🪁🪺

BKABF is an art bookfair for emerging and underrepresented artists. We are passionate about removing financial barriers of access to marginalized groups, are committed to disability justice, and exist as a site for resistance, discussion, and emancipatory politics. We don't charge tabling fees, we don't take a cut of sales, & we redistribute funds to artists to ensure everyone is paid for their labor for the weekend.

This literally would not be possible without:

Up & Up is a collaborative kite project led by Nöel Morical and Christina Sadovnikov involving over 60 artists from various locations. The initiative was inspired by a desire to create a community-centered art project that engages with contemporary art in a unique way. Each artist created 1-2 kites to be flown collectively in Chicago, creating a rich tapestry of kites in the sky.

The history of kites as symbols of defiance and liberation, and tools for uplifting spirits through play is central to our project. We are mindful of the symbolic significance of kites flown in Palestine and stand in solidarity by denouncing the genocide against the people of Palestine. We strongly oppose the Israeli occupation of Gaza and its support backed by the U.S. government. We fly our kites to acknowledge the volatile injustices many Palestinians are facing and offer pathways for cultivating hope and solidarity with them during this time.

Our goal is to encourage more events prioritizing creative practices that engage with public spaces and spark meaningful dialogues with contemporary art outside of institutional settings. Through fostering new experiences among diverse participants and viewers, Up & Up aims to unite communities for critical conversations via collective play, drawing on a range of diverse perspectives. by @masuds

WE MCFRICKEN DID THE THING!!!!!!

@brooklynartbookfair is a fair that would literally not be possible without the help of so many generous, lovely, hardworking, and kind people. The fair is entirely volunteer run so we got a lot of reasons to be grateful

@brooklynartbookfair is put on by team @endlesseditions and boy did our team SHOW OUT @connorheckert @susanjnbptst @leslie_olivo @formyths @angi.hewitt @semira.rose @jiazilla thank you so much for your help this weekend slinging zines and holding down the fort 🥰🫡

shoutout to Father Endless @pjpjpjpjpjpjpjpjpjpjpjpj & @h__coleman -they created a book fair unlike any other and i'm so honored to be part of it. they continue to show me the kind of person i want to be when i grow up :)
