Cartoonist & painter

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hello,

I'm a cartoonist and painter from Manchester, UK.

My comics, cartoons and paintings explore subcultures and countercultures while satirising modern living. By focusing on the funny, dark and weird aspects of society, I examine how people alienated from work and mainstream culture find solace and community.

I maintain a strong "DIY" ethos within my multi-discplinary practice, favouring the use of traditional art-making tools and methods where possible.

My work has been published in Private Eye and Viz Comic, as well as several British and North American comics anthologies; including The Gullet Magazine, FREAKY and Spread Love Zine.

I have a monthly cartoon strip, YUX, in the Village Star-Revue.

My paintings have been shown in open exhibitions across Manchester. In 2025, I had my first solo show, Heady, at Pint Sized Gallery.

I am also a founding member and editor of Underground Kingdom Comix, a collective and micro-publisher of UK small press cartoonists.

Two films from 1971 in which Clint Eastwood’s cool, seductive persona turns dangerously against him.

In Don Siegel’s feverish Southern Gothic THE BEGUILED, a wounded Union soldier takes refuge in an isolated girls’ school, where desire, jealousy and resentment gather around him with increasingly poisonous force. Then Eastwood makes his directorial debut with PLAY MISTY FOR ME, casting himself as a late-night radio DJ whose casual encounter with an ardent listener develops into a nightmare of obsession and escalating violence.

A double bill of sexual menace, bruised masculinity and tables brutally turned.

THE BEGUILED
(1971, USA, Don Siegel)

A wounded Union soldier, played by Clint Eastwood, is taken in by the inhabitants of a secluded Southern girls’ boarding school during the American Civil War. As he recovers under their care, the isolated household begins to shift in tone, with tension, jealousy, and suppressed desire slowly emerging beneath the surface of polite Southern hospitality.

Don Siegel constructs something quietly oppressive, letting the closed environment do most of the work as civility gradually erodes into manipulation and emotional volatility. What starts as a simple act of care becomes increasingly uneasy, with power constantly shifting between caretaker and captive.

PLAY MISTY FOR ME
(1971, USA, Clint Eastwood)

A late-night radio DJ in California becomes the target of an increasingly obsessive fan who begins inserting herself into his personal life. What starts as flirtatious contact escalates into stalking, emotional manipulation, and escalating violence that disrupts both his relationships and sense of safety.

Clint Eastwood’s directorial debut leans into a taut psychological thriller structure, using its coastal California setting and radio broadcast framework to build intimacy and unease at the same time. The film steadily tightens its focus as admiration curdles into fixation, turning everyday encounters into sources of threat.
