Duo show Dan Beudean & Tudor Ciurescu

Opening: 25.09 @ 19.00

EREMOS* questions human vulnerability and isolation under the pressures of seeking better living conditions. There is a thin edge between compromise and danger, more or less consciously crossed in order for one to go on, to deliver a better life. It is hard to draw a line between personal choice and social condition, while structures of power dictate a laborious commitment in order to survive.

The dialogue between the artists is set around the story that opens our annual project The Dead Man’s Curve / Curba Morții. This is a concrete geographical point on Calea Turzii where, over the years, several serious accidents have taken place. In the past, multiple heavy-duty vehicles crashed into the house located next to MATCA artspace. The memory of the site becomes the starting point for a broader exploration of how we experience the idea of safety and the anxiety surrounding temporal limits and finitude. At this location, named as such by locals and those living in the area, several fatal accidents occurred during the 1980s.

In continuous movement, the attention and intention of the works speculate metaphorically on the condition of being trapped in a work system that demands constant engagement, while offering little real sense of security or control.

*Eremos is an ancient Greek adjective and noun meaning solitary, lonely, desolate, or uninhabited. It frequently translates to desert or wilderness.

She lives with multiple sclerosis. Her work has been shown at documenta 15, the Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje, and Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, with residencies in Porto, Luxor, and Berlin. Don’t worry, it’s out of control
Speculative Scenarios Workshop through Improvisation, Text and Sound

Centrul Cultural German Cluj-Napoca
Echinox, Universității 7-9
Room S1-S2

02 oct @ 15.00
Duration: up to 2.5 hours
Language: English
Free entrance
Limited seats available - to secure your spot, please fill up the event form (link in bio)

Don’t worry, it’s out of control is an interdisciplinary concert-performance combining contemporary music, improvisation, text, performance and live projections. Across five dream phases, scientific scenarios of the climate crisis are interpreted from the imagined perspective of the year 2100. Nađa Kračunović’s texts and performance are closely interwoven with Nicklas Koppe’s compositions and the improvisations of seven musicians, accompanied by live visuals by Fridolin Krön.

The project-related workshop offers a creative and speculative exploration of environmental and political futures. It introduces the concept, research and methods behind Don’t worry, it’s out of control and opens a discussion around ecological, political and social collapse.
Participants work with selected Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) and translate one scenario into a collaborative artistic response using text, voice, music, sound, noise, images, movement or objects. The workshop reworks the central idea of the project by asking what happens when systems move beyond control, which forms of collapse are already present, and what new possibilities may emerge from them.
Depending on the group, the focus can be musical, conceptual or practical. No previous artistic or musical experience is required. by @matcaartspace

w/ Nadja Kracunovic, Nicklas Koppe, Felix Gerbig, Felix Neumann, Fridolin Krön

Don’t worry, it’s out of control is an interdisciplinary ensemble that combines contemporary music, text, performance and visuals and was founded in 2023 by the musician Nicklas Koppe (DE) in collaboration with the artist Nadja Kracunovic (SRB).
In five dream phases, scientific future scenarios of the climate crisis are interpreted and illustrated from the perspective of the year 2100. In this change of perspective, the search for ecological narratives for our society begins and the present can be criticised with new clarity. Nađa Kračunović's texts and performances are closely linked to Nicklas Koppe's compositions and the improvisations of the musicians accompanied by live projections by Fridolin Krön. Musically, the programme ranges from classical harmonies and Latin grooves to jazz and contemporary music.

Opening: 19 Aug @ 19.00
📍 VOG // Str. Eremia Grigorescu 52, Cluj-Napoca (in the courtyard)

Imagining a fictional future, Adrian Rața's site-specific outdoor intervention is transforming familiar workplace objects into archaeological artefacts. The work reflects on office employment and the traces it leaves behind, proposing a speculative timeline in which the infrastructures of desktop work survive as fragments of a forgotten civilization.

As a result of his exploration of labour and productivity, the intervention considers the consequences of systems built around efficiency and performance. The technologies that expand our capacity to process, automate, and optimize also reshape our relationship with everyday life, leaving behind material and social residues that outlive their original purpose.

As artificial intelligence increasingly transforms office environments, the work becomes both an archaeological speculation and a tribute to a transitional moment between the rise of remote work after the pandemic, and the growing automation of knowledge-based labour.

The intervention opens alongside the parallel exhibition 𝗔𝗽𝗼𝗰𝗿𝘆𝗽𝗵𝗮 by Sevan Székely / @sevan.ck - curated by Roxana N. Pop / @roxananpop - in the gallery space.

We are delighted to announce the last exhibition part of the FORWARD Residency 2026: "The Glass Dome Demands Affective Currency", featuring works by Adrian Ganea, Ana Petrovici, Cătălin Burcea, Dan Beudean, Flaviu Rogojan, Luis Drăjan and Paul Ilfoveanu, curated by Iarina Șleam and Sînziana Stănese.

The show will open on Friday, August 14th, 7 PM, at MATCA artspace @matcaartspace - Calea Turzii 21, Cluj-Napoca (RO)

"The Glass Dome Demands Affective Currency" is an exhibition that explores the paradigm shift from the panoptic society to the digital panopticon, analyzing the valences that freedom takes on once we have agreed to the terms and conditions of being watched and surveilled. We integrated the infrastructures of surveillance, feed them gestures and confessions, willingly turning on the lights, drawing the curtains and broadcasting live from our own home, which, in turn, ends up distorting from a space of safety, refuge and resting into a non-space, an aquarium of perpetual production and exposure.
The selected works debate this fragmentation and exhaustion of the self from the moment it has created its digital carbon copy, where voluntary exposure becomes self-exploitation, where the mental boundaries we could draw around intimacy become blurred. Within this glass dome, self-regulatory mechanisms are getting increasingly difficult to implement, and escapism turns into unpaid emotional labor at the data center.
