Say it with me: QUALITY 👏🏽 MATCHA 👏🏽 ONLY 👏🏽

Once I learned how to ✨𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘺✨ make matcha lattes at home, it completely ruined my desire to order matcha in the wild because of beverages like this ^

When you’re going out for matcha, turn to these tips below 👇🏼

AVOID:

🙅🏻‍♀️ Dull, yellowish-green in color. This is a sign the matcha is poor quality, low in benefits, improperly stored, and an overall lack of care for quality of ingredients.

🙅🏼‍♀️ Dark clumps at the bottom of the cup or floating around. This means the matcha powder was not sifted before brewing (if brewed at all). Usually, baristas will dump matcha powder or a matcha powder mixtures into a cup without sifting. This results in a granular, bitter, and unpleasant beverage.

LOOK FOR:

💁🏽‍♀️ Vibrant green in color

💁🏾‍♀️ Smooth texture, no clumps

💁🏿‍♀️ Ceremonial or culinary grade

💁🏻‍♀️ If they have their matcha on display, make sure it’s stored in airtight tin containers, out of the sun. Matcha that is exposed to sunlight and stored in glass oxidizes quickly and loses its quality.

💁🏼‍♀️ I love to look up photos and reviews of matcha on Yelp or Google pages when searching for a new cafe to try. It may not always be accurate, but it can help eliminate the not so favorable options!

Happy World Mental Health Day 🌟

For me, matcha = meditation

I enjoy the ritual of making my favorite drink, and each step grounds me into the present moment. Some of my favorite parts are:

🌸 Noticing how the scent blossoms in the hot water
☁️ Whisking to frothy perfection
🌱 Watching the dark matcha & milk swirl into my favorite shade of vibrant green
🍵 Sipping as slowly as possible, savoring each moment

The sweet weekend treat we all needed 🍵

Usually, I opt for mildly sweet or non-sweetened lattes when I make them at home, but the Perfect Matcha Latte from @lalalandkindcafe is too yummy to resist ☁️

I am pretty picky when it comes to ordering matcha lattes, and @lalalandkindcafe gets it right in terms of quality and balance. Just look at that COLOR 🌿

Make an iced vanilla matcha latte at home with me! 🍵

Ingredients:
🫖 1/3 cup hot, but not boiling water ~ 160° F or less
🍵 1-2 tsp high quality ceremonial grade matcha
🥛 3/4 cup or so of milk of your choice (I prefer oat or almond)
🍨 Vanilla bean paste to taste (1/2 tsp or so)
🍯 𝘖𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 (𝘮𝘢𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘺𝘳𝘶𝘱, 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺, 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘷𝘦, 𝘦𝘵𝘤.)
🧊 Ice

Instructions:
- In a spouted bowl, sift Ceremonial Grade Matcha into a fine powder
- Pour the hot water into the spouted bowl, allowing the matcha powder to sit in the hot water for about a minute
- Using a bamboo whisk, swiftly whisk using “M” & “W” motions for about 1 minute until frothy
- In a separate mason jar, add ice, oat milk, vanilla bean paste (& optional sweetener)
- Secure the lid & shake until fully combined
- Pour milk and ice into a different cup if you desire, and top off with more ice
- Pour the matcha mixture into the cup, over the milk and ice
- Stir, sip slow & enjoy!
