Just one month before her 40th birthday, Rhea Adams received a life-changing diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma. Through surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, she has continued to work, care for her family, and face every challenge with determination and grace. Her resilience shines through even on the hardest days.

Here is Rhea's story:
"I would like to nominate my wife, Rhea Adams, for the Tools for the Cause Warrior campaign.

On January 15, 2025, she was diagnosed with an invasive ductal carcinoma of her right side, one month before her 40th birthday. Our world became a whirlwind in those days following diagnosis. Consults with oncologists and surgeons, more imaging. On February 21, she underwent a bilateral mastectomy. Following surgery, she was recommended for chemotherapy and radiation. She completed a round of 4 chemotherapy infusions on June 6th. And on June 30th, she began her 20 round radiation treatment course. Today, as we write this, she is half way done with radiation treatments!

Throughout her diagnosis and treatment, she has continued to not only work her own career, veterinary nurse surgical manager, but has worked with our Matco business as well. Our business was only 5 months old at the time of her diagnosis. She was even willing to help out with the daily business tasks on chemo days when she didn't feel well.

She has kept her positive upbeat personality she has always always had, through some of the hardest days. She said from the start that she wasn't going to let cancer stop her from doing the things she loves, and it hasn't at all. She has shown amazing resilience and determination throughout this whole process. I am so proud of her and would love for her to be considered as a nominee for this campaign."

"At the age of 31 I was diagnosed with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer. Which is a very aggressive type of invasive breast cancer where the cells do not have estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors, or excess HER2 protein. With a BRCA 1 gene positive mutation. I am a single mother of two children a 13-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter. I had treatment for 6 months. I worked every day before and after treatment at a family ran shop. During the spring/summer and fall I kept very busy with treatments, doctor appointments, working, my daughter travel softball, and then my kids also show livestock. So, we were very busy and active. The kids and our show family traveled to Springfield IL for the All-American Junior Sheep show, and South Dakota for a sheep show. In November of 2025 I had a double mastectomy. When I received my pathology report back there was no live or active cancer, which I was very thankful for, and my doctors did a great job. And made my treatment exactly what I needed. Today I am still working at the family run repair shop. Watching the kids show sheep and my daughter’s softball. During this time, I kept myself very busy and active. I did not want to slow down and think about it. I just wanted to get through it and live life also. “Keep going, don’t slow down."

Is bigger ALWAYS better? No, it is not! @matcotools 1/2” shorty ratchet comes in handy way more than you would think! I mentioned a few examples in the video, but the ratchet itself is 88 tooth, USA made, locking flex head. The handles on all Matco ratchets feel great (I have all drive sizes to verify lol) , and all the heads are slimmer than most ratchets on the market. Being able to get in more places, have 9 flex positions or fixed positions, and comfort makes this ratchet a must have in your box.

Strength isn't just about tools in the garage - it's about resilience in life. During the height of COVID, Louise faced breast cancer alone in the hospital, but she came out the other side a warrior.

"I would like to nominate my mom. She survived breast cancer during COVID, where I was only able to drop her at the door and not allowed to accompany her at the hospital. She has recovered and is a strong woman. I am very proud of her."
