“Being thoroughly modern, she gives her clothes the essence of modern architecture, modern thought and modern movement.” (Harper’s Bazaar 1932).
Italian-born Elsa Schiaparelli’s (1890-1973) extraordinary imagination is writ large in this excellent exhibition at London’s V&A museum. Her collaborations with surreal artists of the time, including Dali and Jean Cocteau, inspired her love of detail and near architectural clothing structure. We love her delight in stitch and quirky decoration.
All taken forward as modern day couture by the acquisition of the Schiaparelli name and archive in 2006, and in 2019 by creative director Daniel Roseberry, successfully reinterpreting her creative legacy... by @material_being

Excellent exhibition of abstract textile and fibre art by multi-disciplinary Tadek Beutlich: On and Off the Loom. Printmaker, sculptor, weaver, textile artist - his work spans large and small richly coloured textile pieces and prints, and in contrast to all the exuberance, his drawings and diminutive figurative sculptures seem to convey great anxiety and anguish...

Beautifully curated by the Ditchling Museum in Sussex @museumartcraft (on until 22 June) by @material_being

From huge scale installations to the most delicate flowers-under-glass pieces created using tiny animal bones and teeth. Delicacy v super hyped-up bold. Contemporary interpretations, flower/plant-inspired.
