🇺🇸🏆 WE WON IN SAN DIEGO! 🎬🔥

We are incredibly happy to announce that DAWO has won BEST THRILLER at the San Diego International Film Festival 2026.

And this one marks a very special milestone for us: our fifth award on DAWO’s international festival journey — and our fourth win for BEST THRILLER. 🏆🏆🏆🏆

From a short film made with limited resources, but with an extraordinary amount of talent, commitment and passion, DAWO has grown into a project that continues to find audiences and recognition far beyond Colombia.

From Stockholm to Berlin, Brussels, Paris, Tokyo and now San Diego, this journey keeps surprising us. Seeing DAWO receive its fourth Best Thriller award, this time in California, makes us incredibly proud of what this entire team created together. 🇨🇴🌎

Five awards. Four Best Thriller wins. And the journey is far from over. 🖤🎥

Thank you to everyone who made DAWO possible and to everyone who continues supporting the film around the world.

@materialcinema We are incredibly happy to announce that DAWO has won BEST ORIGINAL SCORE at the Brussels World Film Festival 2026 🇧🇪🏆🎹

This award is particularly special to us because it recognizes the extraordinary work of @franciscofresen (Pacho), a friend and collaborator who has been supporting our cinema adventures since even before our university years.

Pacho has been part of this journey for a very long time, so seeing his talent recognized internationally through DAWO makes us incredibly proud.

And honestly, it is difficult to imagine a better place for this award than Belgium — and Brussels — where electronic music, techno and synthesizers are appreciated with the same passion that Pacho and all of us have for them. 🇧🇪🎛️🖤

Thank you, Pacho, for all these years of music, friendship and collaboration. And thank you to the Brussels World Film Festival for recognizing his work.

Another award for DAWO. The journey continues. 🏆🎬

@materialcinema We are thrilled to announce that DAWO has been officially selected for Paris Lift-Off Film Festival 2026 🇫🇷🎬

Paris is a particularly special stop in DAWO’s international journey. It was here that the film’s original music and sound design were created, giving DAWO a fundamental part of its identity, atmosphere and emotion.

Having the film now return to Paris as an Official Selection makes this recognition feel like coming full circle.

We are honored to continue our journey with the @liftoffglobalnetwork and incredibly happy to see DAWO reaching new audiences across Europe and beyond.

Merci, Paris. 🇫🇷❤️ The journey continues.

@materialcinema We are thrilled to officially announce that DAWO has been selected as a Semi-Finalist at the Berlin Indie Awards 2026 🇩🇪🎬

Our festival journey continues, and we couldn’t be happier to arrive in one of the world’s greatest filmmaking capitals.

Berlin is more than another stop on DAWO’s international run. It is a city where we will soon begin opening new production opportunities for Material Cinema while continuing to position DAWO as an independent cinematic project with global ambitions.

This image captures our writer, director, and camera operator, @d.trip, who personally shot most of the film handheld, bringing the audience closer to every emotion and every moment throughout the story.

Every new selection reminds us that independent cinema has no borders. What started as a film made with minimal resources continues to find audiences and recognition across Europe, The US, Asia, and now one of Germany’s most vibrant film communities.

Thank you to the Berlin Indie Awards for this recognition and to everyone who has believed in DAWO from the very beginning.

The journey is only getting started.

@materialcinema We are thrilled to officially announce that DAWO has been selected as a Semi-Finalist at the San Diego International Film Awards 2026 🇺🇸🎬

Our international journey continues, and today we celebrate a milestone that means a great deal to us.

Being selected for our very first film festival in California—a place that has inspired generations of filmmakers and shaped the history of world cinema—is both an honor and a dream come true.

From Stockholm to Tokyo, from London and Brussels to California, DAWO continues to prove that stories created with passion, commitment, and heart can travel far beyond where they were born.

This short film was made with minimal resources, but with extraordinary talent, endless dedication, and a team that believed in every frame from the very beginning.

We sincerely thank the San Diego International Film Awards for this recognition and everyone who has supported DAWO throughout this incredible journey.

We’re just getting started.
