Introducing ny2ms.

Magnus Chenel (@killmagnus) is a multi-instrumentalist composer producer songwriter & visual artist. His work lives on the intersect of analog and digital, The real world and electronics. His project OverKrekt (@ovrkrkt) is detailed as “Rural Upstate NY Live Modular Techno”, and his band The Witch (@thewitchnj) uses experimental aspects combined with shoe-gaze rock to create an all-encompassing wall of sound.

Studying classical music since the age of 7, Magnus felt the need to extend his interest to other instruments and machines and over the last few years has garnered an immense love for signal flow and the art of electronic music.

This project “ny2ms” (New York to Moss Side) was recorded in Manchester, UK. It is the result of two recording sessions split between 10 hours with Materialized’s own Emre Erkul aka @dokul.7d.
This is the first project of two recorded in collaboration with Emre. More is on the way…

Introducing Phaeke.

I’ve always been drawn to atmospheric sounds that feel expansive and constantly evolving in the background. For this release, I wanted to build something with a deep rhythmic foundation, working on the slower side of techno to give the music space to breathe. That space between the beats is important to me, it allows the atmospheres to slow down, stretch out, and move past the listener in a more immersive, steady way.

On the production side, I kept my setup quite minimal. I worked mainly in Ableton Live with very few external plugins, relying heavily on Ableton’s clip features for time-stretching and pitch manipulation to shape the textures. A big part of the process was also about character and grit. I’ve always associated MATERIALIZED with a raw, gritty sound, so I re-amped almost all of the audio to give everything a more worn, dirtier edge and help it sit in that sonic world.

@phaeke_music’s new EP ‘Nemesis’ is out now on Bandcamp and Soundcloud.

Introducing Jonas Bruder.

My name is Jonas Bruder, I’m 29 years old, based in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Music has always been a big passion of mine, and since I discovered techno around 12 years ago, it has never left me.
Over time, my love for the groove/hypnotic techno subgenre has grown, and it has become my main focus.
With my DJ sets and productions, I aim to carve out my own path,
staying away from being too closely tied to established subgenres in order to promote musical diversity and openness within the scene.

I love the aspect of constantly learning and experimenting with different production techniques and sound design approaches.

Introducing Decibel Place,

I am a 20 year old Hardgroove DJ based in Liverpool under the alias Decibel Place. I have listened to electronic music all my life but have found my niche in 2000s Hardgroove. I find the sound of David Moleon, Cave, and D.A.V.E The Drummer to be the best we’ve ever had in the wider techno scene and as such, I want to revitalise and reinvent that sound in the context of modern dance music. Alongside the tracks I’ve released already, I want to expand my musical palette and share my music with the world.

We are delighted to have Sol on the team and look forward to working on more projects together in the future:)
