It’s true! The word is spreading, Pelvic Health and Pelvic Floor Rehab is definitely trending people! And thank GAWD for that. 🙌🏼

There is so much more to be done in terms of having pelvic health and rehab be the standard of care for everyone following birth, delivery and or any other gynocological intervention as well as general health checkups but the words is getting out there. 🫶🏼

I love when people come into the clinic and say things like “I’m pregnant and want to learn more about my pelvic floor for pregnancy and for postpartum”. It’s so proactive and EFFECTIVE! ✨

Seeing a pelvic floor physio during pregnancy is like giving yourself a head start on your postpartum recovery. The more you know and understand before you give birth can improve your understanding, confidence and recovery postpartum. 🤰🏼

Unable to see a pelvic floor PT in person?

That’s why I created the Maternix Method - it’s an online course for Pregnancy and Postpartum recovery to teach Pelvic Floor Health 101 for everyone at an affordable price. 🖥️

Pelvic health should be individualized for best results but the information I share in this course are all the things I talk about with clients in-clinic and can help you navigate the physical changes that come with pregnancy. Exercises are also included and recommended! 🤸🏽‍♀️

If fear of doing something “wrong” has prevented you from even trying that something, please reconsider. It’s far more likely that you will do most of it “right” enough to gain benefit from the activity vs doing it SO WRONG that it’s damaging in any way.

Patients are even nervous to go back to the rehab specialist because they haven’t done their rehabilitation exercises at all because they couldn’t remember the form exactly how they think it should be done. And while yes, form is important and yes, doing it in a particular way does optimize performance and maximize output, but more often than not, NOT doing the exercise at all is more detrimental.

If you are too nervous to try something or participate in an activity because you’re unsure if you can without injuring yourself, please see a physiotherapist! If it’s pregnancy or postpartum related… please see a pelvic floor physiotherapist to help you learn the movement and practice good form so you can go out there and crush it confidently!

All I wish for is for people to move confidently, freely and often! For the sake of themselves and their families 💚

Happy doing friends!

I haven’t been able to workout in the last 10 days and lord I am feeling it in my soul. This ride has centred me after a very busy few weeks and I cannot wait to get moving again (hopefully tomorrow).

Exercise doesn’t just help me manage my emotions, it’s statistically proven to help with postpartum mental health (along with all the physical benefits it brings).

If your partner or friend is struggling to cope as a mom, helping them find time to move and exercise is one of the greatest ways you can support them.

How are you moving today?

Oh and did I mention I went back to work yesterday??

My postpartum people… there is so much to take on and so many thoughts flying in and out of your head every day (every minute of everyday), and while Instagram and other social media platforms have lots of helpful advice, there is also a TON of BS out there - of people trying to get your attention and eventually get your dollars for their program to “fix” whatever it is they have deemed “wrong” with you.

The spotlight on women’s health is SO NEEDED and about 100 years late but the discussions around health topics should help you to feel empowered, instead of nervous or in the worst case scenario… to pull back from activity and exercise or the things that make you most happy.

I know the online information is vast and it can be difficult to know what to listen to or follow but if something you read of hear online makes you feel like sh*t, please unfollow. You don’t need that energy in your life!

If you’re curious about something but are unsure if the source is legitimate, check out their credentials, or send them my way and I can help you vet them! There are loads of helpful people out there trying to help you feel better.

Ok that’s my soap box moment of the day thanks for listening enjoy this splendid day! 🧡

Every Friday I’m so excited to see what our meetup will bring.

Today was such a fun one, starting off with a Q&A with @maternix.ca about all your pelvic health needs

Beautiful weather, some very unimpressed babies, and moms who powered through as we always do.

So grateful for this group. Hope your weekend is as fabulous as all of you! 💜 taken in High Park, Toronto, Ontario by @maternix.ca

‼️ Moms, it’s not your fault our healthcare system is reactionary vs preventative. You aren’t provided with (quite literally) any rehabilitative guidance postpartum.

My mission with Maternix is to help healthcare institutions offer a quality, community-centered, evidence-based course providing pelvic health education and exercise classes to every mother - for free.

If you work for a clinic or hospital that has funding for community services and programming let me know!

Feeling passionate to improve women’s health services? Tell your GP or OB! Mention it to your midwife!

Feeling incensed at the lack of support you received postpartum? Send my information their way so we can get these resources to mothers faster.

Moms. Need. More. 💪🏼

Thanks for your participation my friends!

✨ My 2nd maternity leave has honestly been exceptional.
Busy? Yes.
Chaotic… most definitely.
Stressful? Of course
But also so beautiful watching my 2 littles get a little less little together.
Getting the opportunity to do it all again with less overthinking and more enjoying.
Appreciating the boundaries I’ve discovered I need and confidently (and mostly) upholding them.
Making so many more new friends than I ever thought I would as an adult!
Returning to more high intensity exercise in a healthy way (compared to last time when I was working to fit into a wedding dress I had purchased in 2019 BEFORE COVID and having my baby boy… 🫣)
(Also props to @coolmomsrun for helping keep this last point as a priority 🙌🏼)

But the time has come to get back into clinic and get my physio jam on and I’m VERY excited to start seeing patients again. 🫶🏼

If you’ve been struggling with aches and pains or pelvic symptoms, are trying to get back to exercise and/or sport postpartum, trying to keep activity during pregnancy, navigating perimenopause changes, looking to achieve new fitness goals but would like guidance… I’m your girl and I’d love nothing more than to support you on your journey.

❤️ I’m so grateful to love what I do and I can’t wait to see you in-clinic! In-person and virtual appointment available 💻

↗️ Please share this post to anyone you know who might benefit from my support at this time!
