Congrats to our 2025-2026 Mathematics graduates! You didn’t pick an easy major, so we know you are here for the right reasons. Which is, of course, the money 😉 or a tireless passion for the advancement of math. We hope you take time to look back and celebrate all your learning, growth and accomplishments. We are so proud to call you all Rams and are looking forward to what’s ahead! 🐏 Green background with white text listing BS mathematics students by @mathdeptatcsu

Hey Rams! Meet Moriah Dominguez, a proud mathematics major and an alumni of our Education Preparation program! She currently teaches 6th and 7th graders, and hopes to stay with 7th grade.

Inspired by many people from many directions, from dance teachers, professors, instructors, peers, and her own students, Moriah finds most inspiration from her mom, who homeschooled her in K-12. Using her experience outside of typical school framework, her perspective has become one of her greatest assets.

Moriah also celebrates over 5 years of eating disorder recovery, wanting her experience of overcoming it to help her become a positive force in her students and other people’s lives.

An accomplished dancer, an abroad student who travelled to Poland to attend university, and an amazing mathematics Ram, what can’t she do?

Want to learn more about Moriah? Read her Q+A below!

Q: What do you love most about teaching?
A: I love working with kids. It is so rewarding and there is never a dull moment while teaching and every day is different. I get to problem solve on the daily as well as teach and pass on those problem solving skills. I also learn so much every day, from my mentor teacher and the kids.

Q: How is the Educator Preparation Program at CSU helping you become a better teacher?
Being in the Educator Prep Program at CSU has been such a great experience and has truly prepared me for this semester student teaching. Having been in classrooms since my second year at CSU I have been able to see so many different classrooms and school cultures. I have had hand on experiences teaching lessons, interacting with students, and watching teachers in action.

Q: What has been your favorite CSU experience?
A: I was a part of the CSU harp studio for my entire time as a student. Kathryn Harms has been an incredible mentor and teacher and I truly found a place in the harp studio. Having the opportunity to play and perform and still be invested in the arts while doing math and education as my major made me a better student and allowed me to have a creative outlet outside of my regular coursework.

We’re so proud of you, Moriah! We hope you’re excited for graduation! 💚🐏✨ Moriah Dominguez sitting next to a white sheep. taken in Colorado State University by @mathdeptatcsu

This course will experience Euclid’s claims and discoveries and then perturb what we know by shifting the surface we are on to explore the sphere. This class will be engaging, supporting students to conjecture, question, collaborate, and most of all - learn geometry through experiencing and exploring! This class can stand on its own or be taken before or after MATH 470. Proof experience is helpful but can be taken concurrently. If you have questions about the course, please email Jess Hagman. This new class will support all math students, and especially future teachers, to understand geometry in a foundational and meaningful way. by @mathdeptatcsu

Did you know CSU has an observatory? 🌌🔭

The windowless 16’ x 16’ white brick building on Libbie Coy Way that you’ve probably passed by without much thought, is actually the Madison Macdonald Observatory.

What began as a roving campus observatory in 1905 is now a hub for exploring the wonders of the cosmos, right on CSU’s campus.

We dug up some photos and documents from @csumorganlibrary Archives & Special Collections to celebrate the Madison-Macdonald Observatory’s 60th anniversary and honor the people who brought their star-studded dream to life on campus.

Click the link in our bio to learn about the observatory and its history! ⭐️ A student looks through a large telescope in the Madison Macdonald Observatory. taken in CSU Astronomy at the Madison-Macdonald Observatory by @mathdeptatcsu

Meet our 2025 MS and PhD graduates!! They’ve taught courses, conducted studies, and been a part of seminars and community outreach events, all while furthering their own education. We are so lucky to have their unique minds, knowledge and curiosities become an invaluable part of our program. We are thankful to have more time with the many who are continuing on for PhDs and are celebrating what’s next for the rest—knowing they are ready for whatever is ahead.
