I finally saw the Hives…what a party! Last night’s show at the Salt Shed was a full-on blast of righteous rock ‘n’ roll bliss. Every rock fan should them at least once. @jennifer.boyledubose taken in The Salt Shed by @matt.arado

Another great R.E.M. tribute show from Michael Shannon, Jason Narducy, and Co., this time highlighting the “Life’s Rich Pageant” record. (The show was at @metrochicago.) I saw R.E.M. play these same songs on stage 40 years ago! (Gulp!) by @matt.arado

Loved last night’s endearingly ramshackle set from @fig.dish at @subtchicago! I will never get enough of that crunchy ‘90s rock sound. Amazingly, it was my first time at Subterranean — great room! by @matt.arado

AMAZING set from Bob Mould and his band at @metrochicago last night! He was as lively and ferocious as I’ve ever seen him, with stellar backing from Jason Narducy on bass and Jon Wurster on drums. Rock ‘n’ roll!!! #livemusic #chicago by @matt.arado

Columbia College is cutting the grad program I completed (MFA in creative writing). Really sad news. I loved my time on south Michigan Ave — the classses, the excellent teachers, the creative vibe. Hope things turn around for the school. In the meantime, thanks to @patricia.a.mcnair.7, @ann_hemenway, @shawn_shiflett, @ginafrangello, @joenmeno, and everyone who was part of the old Creative Writing Department! by @matt.arado

Fantastic show last night by @andrewbirdmusic at the Martin Theater, Ravinia. Some moody jazz, a dash of Peanuts holiday music, & some upbeat roots rock. It was my first time at the Martin Theater — what a beautiful spot for a show! @jennifer.boyledubose by @matt.arado
