📍The Sydney Opera House on one very special morning when the sky decided the catch fire

📍A late afternoon storm resulted in one of the most vibrant double rainbows I’ve ever seen, as captured from a rooftop overlooking Circular Quay and the Sydney Opera House

📍As the fog started to lift, parts of the Sydney Opera House became visible, lit by morning light

This morning’s sunrise was MEGA 🤯🫠

Who else managed to catch this morning’s crazy colourful sunrise in Sydney. It was definitely one of the best of the year, as it transformed the entire beach into a sea of red and orange. I actually had to turn down the saturation on a lot of these clips it was that colourful!

What a way to kick off the day 🥹

It’s officially summer in Sydney, or at least it feels that way! 🌺🌞

Today felt like one of those long summer days, where the beaches were packed, water was warm and mood was good. I was down at Manly enjoying the atmosphere of Manly Jazz Festival.

Bondi Beach turning it on this morning 🤯

For those dedicated enough to wake up early on their long weekend Monday, sunrise treated them with to one of the most spectacular mornings of the year. I was down at Bondi Beach to capture the colour and it truely didn’t disappoint. There was so much colour and detail in the sky!

The photo vs the moment, from New Caledonia 🌺🌲

Tucked in a corner of the Pacific lies one of the most unique and underrated destinations. Its islands are covered with tall pine trees, and water as blue as you’ll ever see it. Welcome to New Caledonia and this incredible natural swimming lagoon on the southern island of Île des Pins (Isle of Pines).

WAIT FOR IT: One of the craziest sunsets of my life 🌋🤯

So did you know that Australia had volcanoes? This spot in northern NSW is the result of a 20 million year old Shield Volcano. After millions of years of erosion, only the tiered lava terraces and plugs remain, and I spent the night on the very top of one to capture this incredible footage!

You can also see these sort of volcanic outcrops right up and down the east coast of Australia, just west of the Great Dividing Range. Even parts of suburban Melbourne show remnants of ancient basalt lava flows!

To say I’m grateful for the opportunities I have is an understatement and looking back at all of these photos from the past year really puts into perspective not only how lucky I am but also how stunning the world is. From the US to Oman, Cambodia, Japan and the UAE - all unique in their own way and breathtakingly beautiful!

My favourite shots from a night on an ancient volcano in northern NSW 🌌🌋

As you would have seen in my last reel, I headed north from Sydney to capture the Milky Way a few weeks ago. This place was incredible thanks to its dark skies and dramatic scenery.

I chose this first frame as it faced perfectly south to capture an amazing star trail and had this beautiful grass tree that I could frame in the foreground. This shot is a composite of a single foreground frame, lit by my head torch, and a 3 hour long stitched timelapse. Incredibly happy with how it turned out!

As sunset, turned to dusk and then to complete darkness, the stars came out in abundance. Millions of stars slowly rotating around the southern celestial pole

A little ways back down the mountain, I found this incredible composition. The setting Milky Way perfectly aligned with the mountain range - three distant peaks that were once the core of an ancient volcano.

This one was a 5 image stack, captured with 3min exposures and tracked using a @moveshootmove Nomad Star Tracker

A close up of the setting Milky Way. The detail in the core is incredible! So much detail and colour appears where you star increasing your exposure time.

And finally, a timelapse of the setting Milky Way, captured from a separate camera, shooting images across an hour long period taken in New South Wales by @matt.lambley
