Its been a while since ive posted again, cute little fella from the garden in August. by @matt_h_visuals

Is this camera complete overkill for a robin? Probably. 😂📸

But then this little character landed in front of the lens…

Robins are one of those birds that feel like they have a personality. They’re curious, confident, and somehow always seem to be watching what you’re doing.

That’s what makes wildlife photography so rewarding — it’s not just about getting a sharp image. It’s about capturing those tiny moments that show an animal’s behaviour.

The head tilt.
The curious look.
The little pause before they hop away.

A few robin facts:

🐦 Robins defend their territory all year round, and that famous red breast is actually a warning to rivals.

🎵 Unlike many birds, both male and female robins sing.

🌅 They’re often one of the first birds singing in the morning.

👀 Their curiosity is legendary — many robins will investigate people working in gardens.

So yes… the camera might be overkill.

But for moments like this? It’s absolutely worth it. 🐦

Overkill — Yes
Worth it — even more yes by @matt_h_visuals

The little details make a big difference. How awesome does this look!

Huge thanks to @alvinscables for sending over these custom USB-C and HDMI cables for my camera rig.

I’ve finally got them installed, and not only do they look fantastic, they make the rig so much cleaner and more practical out in the field.

I can’t wait to put them through their paces while filming wildlife over the coming weeks.

Thanks again for the support—it’s genuinely appreciated.

Not every day brings something rare.

Sometimes it’s a robin you’ve seen hundreds of times.

But slow down for a minute, and you realise just how much character these little birds have.

I missed focus slightly, it was too nice a moment not to share.

The little bird with the big attitude. 🐦

Robins might look calm and curious, but they’re surprisingly territorial. During the breeding season they’ll fiercely defend their patch, chasing away rival robins to protect food and nesting sites.

It’s easy to forget that beneath the familiar red breast is one of the garden’s most determined little characters.

Watching behaviour like this is one of my favourite parts of filming and photographing British wildlife.

Another piece of the rig is coming together. 🎥

A huge thank you to @alvinscables for sending over these custom USB-C and HDMI cables. They look fantastic, and I can’t wait to get them mounted on the camera for future wildlife shoots.

I’ll admit… my unboxing skills could do with a little work. 😂 But every collaboration is helping me build the filmmaking kit I’ve always wanted.

Really appreciate the support, and I can’t wait to show these in action soon.

🐿️ Sorry I’ve been quiet for a few days... life has been a little hectic.

But the cameras have still been rolling, and this morning I caught an unexpected visitor helping itself to the bird food.

Yes... that’s a squirrel. 😅

I think the birds might have some competition!

Do squirrels empty your feeders too, or is mine just particularly cheeky? 👇

🦔 An evening with a hedgehog.

Another visit from one of my favourite garden visitors. He spent a little time wandering around before disappearing back into the darkness.

Strangely though, he didn’t visit at all last night.

That’s what makes watching wildlife so fascinating—every evening is different, and you never know what’s going to appear... or what won’t.

I’ll be checking the cameras again tonight to see if he’s back.

Do your local hedgehogs disappear for a night or two, or are they regular visitors? 👇

Looking forward to setting this up and starting my comparison between the 3 cams. by @matt_h_visuals

💙 Sometimes we all need a moment to slow down.

This juvenile Blue Tit stopped by for a morning bath, and watching it back in slow motion was a reminder of just how much beauty there is in the wildlife right outside our windows.

If your day’s been a little hectic, take a minute, enjoy the moment, and let this little visitor brighten your feed. 🌿🐦

Do you have Blue Tits visiting your garden? I’d love to know where you’re watching from. 👇
