We are so back 🩰
Being back on stage just over a year since my surgery has been nothing but incredible. A year ago I didnt even think this would be possible!

Thank you @bhamroyalballet and the friends that I have made and reconnected with during my time here! You guys made this marathon of Don Q so much fun ❤️

ACL rehab and my time with Boston Ballet – completed it mate. 💪🏻

It’s been an absolute whirlwind of a year, but I’m so happy to be healthier and stronger than ever. I am officially cleared to return to ballet full-time, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Bear with me, I’ve got stuff to say…

My physio team have been nothing but exceptional, and from the beginning I was in incredible hands. I never knew learning to walk again would be more difficult than a double tour en l’air, but hey, what can I say… I’m just built different, I guess 💁‍♀️ I will be forever grateful for my team getting me back so well and pushing me on my bad days. You truly were my lifeline. @emdroy is knee goddess and everyone should know about it 💪🏻

To my friends who were there for every win and every loss, thank you. It’s been one hell of a time, and I had so much fun with you all inside and outside of the studio. The talent I got to witness and be a part of was such an honour, and I am so proud to have been part of the legacy at Boston Ballet — and in your hearts, because I know y’all ain’t forgetting me that easily 😜 It’s really been fun.

And to my family and boyfriend: thank you for meaning the absolute world to me and for showing up for me every day, even though there’s the whole Atlantic Ocean between us. I love you endlessly ❤️

I’m leaving Boston Ballet with so many amazing memories, on stage and off. I danced some absolute dream roles, witnessed incredible art, and made friends for life, for which I will be forever grateful. But it’s time for me to search for new adventures and a new chapter in this amazing career that I have never felt so fortunate to be a part of ❤️ by @mattbatesss

Hiiiii everyone,

First of all I would like to wish my family and friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

And secondly I am sad to say that I will be taking a little break from the studios and stage for a surgery to repair my knee as I injuried myself during a show of Nutcracker. Thankfully I have the amazing support of the Healthcare team at Boston Ballet alongside my friends and family and I am doing everything I can to get strong pre surgery to help the healing process. As much as it hard to think right now, I believe I will be back stronger than ever and I cant wait to be back doing what I love soon. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and sent their messages of support, I really appreciate it.
With so much love,
Matt by @mattbatesss
