Bristol legend @djdie_gutterfunk rolling out one of the finest multi-genre sets I’ve ever heard, moving seamlessly over the course of an afternoon and evening through everything from 70s soul to 2025 dnb with everything in between that makes up the DNA of drum & bass. A set for the ages, here’s hoping it gets posted online 👀

2.

The bad man from Brazil, @djmarkym bringing his infectious energy. Whipped out my phone to catch him playing Your Love by The Prodigy and he caught everyone off guard (not least me filming) by cutting straight into LTJ Bukem - Atlantis.

3.

The peerless ‘Music Man’ from Belfast, @calibresignature, switching it up at the end of a blissed-out dub reggae set on the beach with some of his trademark soulful dnb. I spent most of this set from a listening position waist-deep in the med which is pretty much my idea of heaven.

4.

@devparadox with his 40-year old Amiga, dealing with technical issues like the don he is. This was his 17th live performance at Sun and Bass over the years so he knows what he’s doing by now.

5.

The big man from Germany, @tony_madvibes, pulling no punches with the set of the week for me at @djstormdnb’s night (which is always my highligh of my Sun and Bass week)

Loads of his own productions and collabs, Top Secret with Digital is something else, but there’s no way I was stopping moving to film that)

6.

Brooklyn’s finest @tracologist bringing his golden voice and golden era hip hop flow to Bal Harbour.

@londonelek ending his set on the beach with the first track he ever made back in 1988, Stories by IZIT.

Beautiful to finally get back to San Teodoro, Sardinia for another magical week of Sun and Bass. Always such a special thing, a truly one-of-a-kind festival with 1,700 likeminded souls in paradise. by @mattboneuk

Amazing evening at @streathamspace last night for a screening of the @cymandeofficial documentary which is out next Feb. Cymande are South London funk legends who were rejected by the UK music industry but went on to be one of the most influential black British acts of all time, ultimately reforming in 2010 on the back of a huge international fan base who found them through hip hop and sampling. Myself included, first coming across them on a Super Disco Brakes compilation when I was about 15 and becoming a lifelong fan, eventually catching them live in Brixton in 2018 for a blisteringly tight performance that’s also in the film.

Excellent documentary, electric atmosphere at the screening and a surprise Q&A by two of the founding members, Patrick Patterson and Steve Scipio, made for a truly memorable experience. taken in Streatham Space Project by @mattboneuk

Made Dal Makhani for the first time tonight via an Atul Kochar video on YouTube. Finally found a genuinely satisfying recipe for meat free days, a rare thing indeed by @mattboneuk
