Although my official last day is not until December 31st, today marks my final Friday with the Oklahoma House of Representatives Research Division. This is a bittersweet moment as I close this chapter of my professional journey.

If I’m being honest, this job was never on my radar until I stumbled across it in November of 2022. At the time, I was deep into interviews for another role that would have had me traveling to Denver at least once a month—a prospect that seemed exciting and promising. But then, this opportunity came along, and the chance to work in the legislature, right in the heart of policymaking, was too compelling to pass up. Once the House extended an offer, I withdrew my candidacy from the other position and embraced what turned out to be one of the most rewarding decisions of my career.

The past two years have flown by, but they’ve left an indelible mark on me. I’ll always be grateful for this place—not just for the work itself, but for the people and the lessons. The colleagues I’ve had the privilege of working alongside have challenged me, inspired me, and changed me in ways no academic course or professional training ever could. The experiences I’ve gained here have shaped me into a better public servant, instilling a more profound sense of purpose and responsibility.

As I look ahead to my next role, I carry with me immense gratitude for the House, for the opportunities it has provided, and for the lasting relationships I’ve built. While this is the end of one chapter, it’s only the beginning of another. Here’s to growth, service, and the journey ahead. Stay tuned! taken in Oklahoma State Capitol by @mattbrenchley

Two months ago, I finally reached my 50th state. Alaska. The last frontier.

While I am aware that visiting all 50 states is an individual accomplishment in its own right, I’m also acutely aware that I could not have attained it without the help of countless people. Most notably, my parents who initially set all this in motion.

Summer after summer, we checked off various regions of the country. Driving to cities from Los Angeles to Buffalo, seeing obscure landmarks like Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas, or the Longaberger Basket Building in Newark, Ohio, and visiting a total of 30 National Parks in the process.

All of that slowly stopped after my mother passed in 2008. My father continued to take us on trips to the best of his ability. A trip to Washington DC, where we also visited Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Then, another summer spent on the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest, we hiked through Olympic National Park, Mt. Rainer, and took a day trip to Oregon.

Eventually, life went on. I moved away, went to college, started working, lived through a pandemic, and then, in 2022, I decided to do some self-searching and finish what my parents started. So, I cashed in some credit card points and spent a week in Hawaii. Then, last summer, I spent time in the Northeast, visiting the final 7 states I needed there.

At times, traveling alone was daunting, but often, it was liberating. I reconnected with old friends and made new ones along the way. I learned that this country is beautiful in more ways than words can describe and that people are inherently good. Though sometimes misunderstood, they all have the capacity to be kind, and all of us have a story worthy of sharing.

Now, at 30 years old, I’ve finally finished this chapter the same way I started it. Happy, grateful, and surrounded by family and loved ones.

I love you all. I love this life. I’m humbled, thankful, and forever changed by this experience. taken in United States of America by @mattbrenchley

Coolest part of my first MLB All Star Game was, without a doubt, going with the man that introduced me to baseball. The second was Ohtani’s home run, and a close third was easily the parachuting hotdogs.

Mr. Speaker, I move that the 2nd Session of the 59th Oklahoma Legislature adjourn sine die… I’m now officially in my 5th year of service to the State of Oklahoma. At times it’s been trying, frustrating, and often exhausting, but it’s also completely worth it. taken in Oklahoma State Capitol by @mattbrenchley
