Pinch me, I’m dreaming 🌎🇺🇸

I’m incredibly proud to share that I was recently sworn in as a U.S. diplomat and Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State!

This truly feels like a dream come true. My journey to the Foreign Service really began with my time as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rwanda. That experience changed my life and showed me how much I loved living abroad, representing my country, immersing myself in another culture, and working alongside local communities. Somewhere along the way, a dream of making that kind of work my career began to take shape.

Getting here wasn’t easy, and there were plenty of moments when this dream felt very far away. That makes this moment even sweeter. I’m so grateful for every experience, challenge, friend, mentor, and loved one who helped me get here - and incredibly proud of myself for continuing to chase something I wanted so badly.

And now for the next adventure… 🇻🇳

I’m so excited to share that my first overseas assignment will be at the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam! I’ll spend the next several months learning Vietnamese and preparing for my first tour before heading overseas next year.

I still can’t quite believe I get to say this, but here we go. A new career, a new language, a new country, and the beginning of an adventure I’ve dreamed about for years. taken in Washington, D.C. by @mattcermak
