Hari ini 6 tahun yang lalu, waktu diluar terlihat gelap tak jelas arahnya, kita mencoba mencari kembali cahaya dari dalam.. lewat musik. Selamat ulang tahun, #itsNIGHTVISION.

Something is coming in the end of video. 💽 (P.s: if you’d like to have one, comment how you feel about the album and we’ll send you more update.)

With love,

Drifting away with @matterhalo.

Kolektif pop-rock konseptual ini dikenal dengan aransemen cinematic, ketukan eklektik, dan soundscape futuristik yang selalu ngajak kamu bertualang keluar dari realita.

𝐒𝐢𝐱 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐖𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐲𝐥

Yesterday afternoon, I had the chance to return to what I consider Jakarta’s most charming family basement, @subofamily ‘s Listening Space.

I came at @ariaanggadwipa ‘s invitation to hear @subo.records ’ first-ever release, made for @matterhalo .
Matter Halo is a Jakarta-based music duo consisting of @ibnudian and @ganidrarai , known for their distinct approach to blending rock, pop, electronic, and ambient elements.

- -

It all began with a conversation I had with Aria a little while ago. He invited me for a sneak peek of a vinyl produced by SUBO Records, mentioning that one side of the record was dedicated entirely to ambient, instrumental, binaural music.

Binaural is a sound technique where slightly different frequencies are played into each ear, creating a perceived rhythmic pulse in the brain. It has been used in contexts such as meditation, relaxation, and immersive listening.

The side Aria was referring to is Side B of Matter Halo’s 2020 album Nightvision, a long-form ambient piece inspired by the work of Brian Eno, the British musician and producer widely regarded as one of the pioneers of ambient music.

Interestingly, the mastering of Nightvision in 2020 was also handled by Greg Calbi, the legendary American mastering engineer whose extensive body of work includes records by Brian Eno, Talking Heads, and Bon Iver.

In a way, this feels like a reflection of how Matter Halo had already begun to fully manifest its vision from the beginning, with the intention behind the music extending all the way into the process of bringing the record to life.

And perhaps that is also what makes the story behind this particular pressing interesting.

Aria told me that he had already been listening to Matter Halo’s music long before he ever personally met the people behind it. Their songs had even become part of the soundtrack to some of SUBO Family’s road trips few years ago.

From 2020 to 2026, at the right moment and in the hands of the right people, Nightvision has finally found its way onto vinyl.
