Smithfield is getting a new local.

This November, the team behind @restosune will open @thepoetsmithfield inside the historic General Market, beside the new London Museum.

Downstairs will be a proper British pub. Upstairs, Charlie Tayler - formerly of Aulis and The Ledbury - will lead the dining room, with Honey Spencer choosing the wine. A chef’s counter and attic cocktail bar will follow in 2027.

If Sune is any guide, The Poet may become the sort of place worth crossing London for.

A jewellery showroom is not the most obvious place to watch a painting take shape. That is precisely what makes @dmr_jewellery’s collaboration with British artist @tonygreen_illustration worth looking at.

Across DMR’s UK showrooms, Green’s window installations, live painting sessions and private dinners have brought the act of making into view. It feels particularly fitting for a jeweller whose own story began at a Liverpool goldsmith’s bench.

Artist and goldsmith may work with different materials, but both begin with a blank surface, a set of tools and an idea of who might one day live with the finished piece.

@rolex has revived the Padellone name for the first time in more than 70 years, but this is no faithful reissue.

The new Perpetual Padellone, launched today in Milan, takes the visual language of the cult reference 8171 and rebuilds it around an instantaneous annual calendar, a grand feu enamel moonphase with meteorite moons, and the new calibre 7190.

Offered in Everose gold and platinum, it is a very different sort of Rolex: less about sporting utility and more about the complicated watchmaking the Crown rarely puts centre stage.
