Winterclash 2026- what a ride!!!
Had the best time with my regular @ghettoparkgrimsby skate crew, the weather was unseasonably glorious, and the level of skating witnessed was off the chain!!!

Fulfilled a bucket list item- got my copy of hoax3 signed by the two most influential skaters of my teens, John Julio and Arlo Eisenberg… so grateful to both of you for your time and your autographs, something I’ll treasure!

Also ticked “try skating a bowl” off my list- probably shouldn’t have gone for the big bowl or done it last thing Saturday night, but I had a blast & was glad I did it (even if I am a bit battered and bruised now 😂)
Can’t wait for the next one 😃

Got a bit of Daddy Daughter time on the skates, and Girly made some excellent progress 😃

We moved on from penguin walking, to starting to understand weight transfer and how to push & glide.
We learned better ways to fall- and how to commit to the fall safely.
And the most important lesson of the day- how to get up safely all by ourselves 🥰

Changed my aging Kaltik wheels for some new old stock Lade wheels I’d picked up… they are waaaaay too hard!
Had a fun session, and they were nice and fast - but the level of grip was not my cuppa tea, and had a few little slip outs that I barely hung on to!
Slowly creeping my way back on to bigger ramps and building my confidence back up on transition 🙂

Quiet one at Ghettopark on Tuesday- spent way too much time wrapping my head around 1/2 cab back Unity stalls, but had a lot of fun figuring it out
Also spent more time practicing switch grinds & starting to feel pretty comfy on some of them now 😃

Lovely chilled out session on Tuesday - started to get the hang of switch royales, and got a nice half cab switch frontside, a little freestyle makio, and finally figured out how to put the polish on half cab Sweatstance- 270 out on the flat bank 😁

Mega sweaty session @ Ghetto on Tuesday… almost too hot to skate, but I was desperate to have a session in my new omnis

The increased volume in the toebox was very nice, and the increased cuff flex and lack of lateral pressure points was amazing!
I’m only one session in, so time will tell- but considering how hot and sweaty it was I can’t think of much worse conditions to be testing a new setup- and still come away from the session happy and with pain free feet!

Skate Crisis 2026 - Episode 6

Finally managed to get my mitts on a pair of @standardskateco Omni V3s

I’ve had the V1’s (which fit great, but we’re horrendously stiff), two pairs of V2’s - black teams & Yandis (the Yandriel’s I’ve actually owned twice - missed them so much I bought them back off the person I sold em to!).

My only issue with the V2’s was pain around the ankle after a long session…. I’m pleased to report that so far that seems to be a thing of the past with this third installment!

I wanted to try the standard comfort liner, but instantly knew I wouldn’t get on with it - so back to intuition premiums.
Did two hours in a few hot and sweaty indoor park last night- and aside from poor choice of socks, I’m pleased to say I thoroughly enjoyed the boots.

The toebox area is more generous than before, and the flex is amazing - really remind me of SLs but with better control.
Got a smidge of heel lift - but that will hopefully be cured by putting my waxed laces in and using better socks next session 😃
