So excited and proud to share my latest short film, “It’s Just A House”.

I took a trip in 2019 to visit my hometown and go see my childhood house. When I got to my neighborhood I was struck with an emotion that was unexpected—I was a stranger. I sat in the car outside the house I grew up in but couldn’t go inside, and it felt like a relic. This place that knew every part of me and shaped who I would become was now just a distant friend. It broke my heart. That night I had a dream where I was back in the car outside my house but this time I went and walked around. It was so beautiful. But, when I got to the back of the house I saw that it was overgrown with dead branches and the house was decaying. I’ve really struggled to understand what this meant for the past 7 years and eventually I landed on this: life is full of seasons. Your home changes, your friends change, your life changes. Nothing is permanent and it’s ok. You can’t grow unless you learn to fly. So here’s to growing up and experiencing the fullness of life beautiful, sad, and all the weird parts in between.

I’ve been so scared to make this film because I wanted to do it justice. I’ve replayed it in my head for the past 7 years and have tried to figure out how to even make it. When we found out we were going to have a little girl I felt like it was finally time to bring this story to life. I hope you can relate to this film as much as I have.

VERMILLION RED

I'm insanely proud to share my latest passion project. One of my favorite projects to date. Vermillion Red is a cautionary tale about the human "gray areal. Are we good? Are we bad? What lengths do we go to protect ourselves, our "egg" and at what cost?

I've spent the last couple of months putting this film together. From sourcing miniatures, building tiny sets, and animating the scenes. It was a massive undertaking. I also created the song you hear in the background. It's the first single off my next album.

@paramore - "The News"

Absolutely stoked with this release today. @m.k.a.v called me a few weeks ago with a rad idea for a music video and I came in and added some of my own creative to it and together we co directed this piece. I could not be more proud of what we pulled off and our crew that helped us get there. Nashville is full of beautiful souls that champion their peers. I'm so grateful for the crew that made this happen. @kirkslawek generosity especially for pretty much letting me run wild with gear 😂 I owe you big time. Also this band is amazing and are so fun to hang out with. Hayley is a true pro and such a hard worker. Between the contacts and the grills I'm sure it was uncomfortable all day, but she put 100% into every performance. I'm so glad the band also allowed us to get wild with the edit and retro future vibe. @m.k.a.v and I put everything into this video from pre all the way through post and it would mean the world if you gave it a watch.

There comes a day when you walk back into your childhood home and realize it no longer feels like yours.

IT’S JUST A HOUSE is an animated short written and directed by @matthewdelisi animation by @brainchild.vfx inspired by that quiet, universal moment, discovering that while the house may still be standing, you’ve become someone entirely different.

Through expressive animation, the film explores memory, growing up, nostalgia, and learning that change isn’t something to fear, it’s simply part of life.

Here’s a look into the making of “It’s Just A House”. I really wanted this project to be as close to hand made as I could make it while still utilizing the tools I typically work with. It all started with hand drawn boards to build an animatic to get the edit right. All of the textures for this project were hand drawn/painted on my iPad and brought into 3D software to texture characters and other assets. A lot of the background assets like trees, grass, and clouds were all hand painted as frame by frame loops. The main characters were modeled in the computer but I dropped frames to give it more of a stop motion look. In addition to all this, I scored the music with my synths and even broke out the violin (very rusty). I got to play around with a clone of a 1930s German synth called a Trauntonium which I used for the darker section of the score. Anyways, hope you enjoy this process! by @matthewdelisi

We are over the moon to welcome our baby girl in August! It’s beautiful to have lived so much life together and now we can’t wait to see the life we’re going to live with her. She is already the greatest gift and sweetest blessing we could ask and pray for 🩷🦢 by @matthewdelisi

In addition to the interstitial video, we shot an intro to the @ddlovato tour as well. Right before Demi walks out we show this video to hype the crowd up. While the previous video was more frenetic and stylized, this one was created to be more intentional and play between micro an macro shots. Since we only had a few hours to capture on set, we created an animatic for the entire edit which we stuck to pretty closely for the final product. Loved getting to make this with friends!

First post of a series of @ddlovato ! It’s been about a month or so working on this tour. While I love making content, my first love is shooting with a camera so I was so stoked to fly out to Vegas for a day and shoot some stuff with Demi. Shoutout to our small and mighty crew who put this together!
