What is the weight capacity of a stand? It’s the load mounted onto the top of the stand that can safely be supported. Weight added to the base of a stand does not take away from the stands capacity. An 80lbs(36kg) capacity is not lowered to 30lbs(13kg) when 50lbs(22kg) of sand bags are added to the base, the capacity remains unchanged at 80lbs(36kg). by @matthewsgrip

Combos and Overhead Stands! What are their similarities and their differences? Takes many tools in the toolbox to light a set and more! by @matthewsgrip

This is what access looks like.

Last month we opened the doors for the first Grip Sessions. A room full of young filmmakers getting their hands on real gear, a lot of them for the first time.

C-stands. Grid rigging. The stuff that usually takes years on set to learn.

We put real equipment in their hands and real pros next to them. That’s the whole idea. Get people in early. Teach them right. Send them back out better.
Roll the night back with us. 🎬

Thank you to our instructors, to Vexio Studios, to Matthews, and to the New Jersey Film Commission for standing behind it.

First of many.

Here’s a quick tip on an easy way to seam up two textiles temporarily. This can scale up for very large rags as well. Replace the square tubing with whichever length 1”x3”, or whatever material you have available(square works better than round for obvious reasons). by @matthewsgrip
