It’s a rainy Saturday in Matthews, but that won’t stop us. The thrift shop is open from 10 am to 5 pm, and what better place to spend a gloomy day than in your happy place.

We plan to accept donations as usual from 9 am to 2 pm. However if the weather deteriorates into heavy rain, high winds, or thunderstorms, we may need to pause or completely stop accepting them. If heavy rain is in the area, check this feed before coming to drop off your items as we will update the status of our drive thru here.

And speaking of donations, check out the recent changes to our list of acceptable and not acceptable items.

Thank you for your support!

When Adam's wife left him, he was suddenly in need of daily childcare for his two daughters. The Matthews HELP Center connected him with a daycare center, provided him with financial assistance for childcare and utilities, and connected him with food, and other resources. Adam could continue to work and provide for his children, knowing they would be cared for as he learned to navigate life as a single parent.

Today is the day! A NATIONAL Day to remind Donor-Advised Fund holders that nonprofit organizations, like the Matthews HELP Center, would love to put your charitable dollars to work. If you have a DAF, please recommend a grant to the Matthews HELP Center. It is easy and can be done in a few steps.
Billions of dollars sit in funds that can help neighbors in need today. Visit our website in the comments below for a link and see how on our Home page (Help Here box; select Donor Advised Fund under Payment Method). Thank you!

Congrats to our second raffle winner. Sandy won the creepy ghoul and is excited to add it to her Halloween decorations. And thanks again to everyone who bought a raffle ticket last month. We appreciate how much Backporch Treasures shoppers support our mission. You truly sustain us!
