I’ve known for a while that she was the person I wanted to marry, and on a special trip I asked her to be mine.

I’ve loved seeing how our lives have already grown together and she is someone I truly cherish.

She’s gorgeous inside and out and has such a caring heart - I admire the way she sees the world and our moments together make the world feel small. How lucky am I.

A wonderful start to the year with a great crew.

At the start of this trip, in a cramped store in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo, I found a medium format film camera which I carried with me on this trip to Hakuba. It was a heavy piece of equipment to keep with me at all times, but I’m already looking forward to the places I’ll go with it.

Last month I shot and edited this video for Jackson Hole Roasters, and I loved the combination of bringing together the craft of the roasting process with enjoyment in the outdoors.

Despite the cold and often challenging conditions, I love how winter activities bring our community together out here. For me this often takes the form of backcountry skiing, and I love the feeling of moving through the trees in a forest that would otherwise be impassable taken in Jackson, Wyoming by @matthiasmarklin

Sharing a welcoming meal of bread and tea with a family of Berber nomads as dusk fell easily became one of the highlight moments on this Moroccan adventure. Witnessing how simply this family lives as they tend to their flock of sheep and goats was refreshing, set against the rugged landscape of Morocco. This family doesn’t stay in one place for too long, moving to more favorable regions as they follow the yearly cycle of weather. taken in Morocco by @matthiasmarklin

Back in the 1980s my mom hiked the Teton Crest Trail, and as a kid I remember listening to all the stories knowing it was something I wanted to experience for myself someday. I had a chance to hike it recently with @sarahpartaaay before the snow started to fall, and it was my first time seeing these mountains from this angle.

We were only out there for two nights on the trail, but it was just what I needed to reset with some time in nature.

I wasn’t prepared for how much of an effect this morning would have on me. Crammed in the back of a van we bounced along a rough dirt road in darkness on our way to the launch site. My nose was filled with dust as I tried to make out any landmarks in the dim early morning light, and when we arrived I could hear the droning of fans filling the hot air balloons.

When it was finally time to launch, the heat from the burner was a welcome change from the cold morning air and after dragging through the grass the balloon ascended to reveal a vast landscape below filled with wildlife. Passing over the herds in silence I could hear the movement of the grass beneath the animals and their calls to each other as we floated over them.

It was a surreal experience that felt impossible in reality and left me speechless taken in Kenya, Africa by @matthiasmarklin
