I gave it to God and He made it great.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10
“9 But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

This final season has been such a gift. Last year I chose to walk away from the game because of performance anxiety that I could not overcome on my own. After countless prayers for direction in my life, the opportunity to take my last year of eligibility presented itself just a week before starting my first job post-grad.

I fought with the idea of willingly going back to a game where I felt the most vulnerable and inadequate. This wasn’t an opportunity I wanted nor deserved, but it was God’s redirection, prompting me to play the game right. It was an opportunity to learn how to be still in the presence of Jesus, to ask for help and rely on His strength, and to recognize that this game was never about me and it was never about my performance.

God had a plan to heal my heart and put me back together with the same game that broke me. This season has taught me that my weaknesses and insufficiencies are where Jesus reveals himself the most. I could not have taken the field again without knowing the joy, peace, and security that Jesus offers to those who trust Him fully. For where I am weakest, God’s power and strength are made perfect. What a blessing it is to serve a God that goes before me and beside me, a God that knows my weaknesses and holds my hand in the face of adversity. Thank you Jesus for never being further than a whisper away.

I have so much gratitude for this game, the people its brought me, and the strength it’s given me. The joy of living in His presence outshines all other pleasures. Glory be to God. His grace is and will always be sufficient.
