I did it yall! Yesterday I passed all my required classes at Sac State to become an official teacher. It’s been a journey!!. A lot of long days and even longer nights but I’m proud of myself for sticking to it and getting it done !🎓👨🏽‍🏫🎉🎊

Teacher Matt is official and I couldn’t be happier. I really enjoy teaching, coaching, and mentoring. People tell me all the time I’m a natural at it…maybe I am. I just know I really enjoy what I’m doing and I’m grateful I get to continue this journey.

Also, I know it looks like we just play and have fun all the time. Im a “different” type of teacher. I believe we can learn and have fun at the same time. School can be fun…Most of these clips are of us having fun but I promise the kids are learning from me. I promise😂 by @mattjohnson916

For our student-athletes, this is bigger than a vote.

Today, the Sac-Joaquin Section CIF Board of Directors did not approve Capital College & Career Academy for full CIF membership. We believe the decision was influenced by inaccurate and incomplete information despite repeated efforts to set the record straight. Seeing no other option we intend to pursue every appropriate avenue to advocate for our students.

Since opening in 2023, CCCA student-athletes have practiced, competed, represented their school, supported their teammates, and built our athletic programs from the ground up.

🏃 Cross Country
🏀 Girls and Boys Basketball
🏐 Girls and Boys Volleyball
⚽ Girls and Boys Soccer

AND NOW:
🏈 Girls Flag Football
⛳ Golf

The impact of this decision is clear: under Associate Membership, which have been for the past three seasons, our students may participate in regular-season athletics but CANNOT compete in CIF playoffs.

The Sac-Joaquin Section bylaws state that full membership is available to schools able to DEMONSTRATE at least two sports—one male and one female—in each of the three sport seasons. We have done this consistently since 2023.

That distinction matters to every student, coach, and family who has helped build these programs. Our students matter and they deserve equitable access to competition, regardless of attending a small, newer public charter school.

We are told to simply “try again” next year but that is simply an unacceptable response to our senior class for whom this is their final high school chance to make playoffs and leave their mark on our program. We will continue building teams, supporting our coaches and athletes, competing, and pursuing appropriate administrative and legal remedies to ensure our students are treated fairly.

We ask our families, partners, educators, community leaders, and supporters to stand with our student-athletes.

Our athletes have done their part. Now let’s do ours.

🐜 ONE SWARM. ONE STANDARD.

It was a good weekend for the Crossover Basketball Boys. Both the 15u and 16u teams won the championship and qualified for the next tournament.

These boys have been working super hard all year long and have been growing as individuals as well as a team ! I see the growth and I love the growth.

Never take the wins for granted and to enjoy them. Some kids play their entire lives and never get to experience a championship. I’m grateful these 20 boys can call themselves champions for this weekend ! by @mattjohnson916

Tournament champs 🏆🏆

I always have so much fun helping out with @coaches_corner_digest and all their great events they put on for the city of Sacramento and high school hoops. I love events where the community can come together and highlight the youth. I’m all for it!

I’m 4-0 in @coaches_corner_digest events with 2 championships. (If anyone is counting 🤣) So I need that invite again to the next one.

Side note: this was my first time back in the sac high gym. Felt good to be back in my home gym and even better to win another championship on that floor.

The future of Sacramento hoops is in good hands 🙌🏽 by @mattjohnson916

Champions 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
This team is something special. They have won 5 tournaments in a row and are one of the best 8th grade AAU teams in Sacramento. They play hard! They play together! They accept the coaching and listen! Most importantly they show up to practice ready to get better. I really enjoy coaching these guys. #crossover by @mattjohnson916
