I left home for the first time.

This was something I have wanted to do for a while and I could not have done this without the amazing community built behind rock climbing. Everyone was so helpful and I cannot thank you all enough. So many new friends made who share a passion for climbing. If there’s one thing I learned, it’s that community is not defined by proximity. I will be back soon Taiwan (this place is stunning everyone needs to go visit at least once in their life. Also, those damn night markets made me gain like 7 lbs).

Sitting in the Belly of the Beast - v11/v12

Second ascent and first of the grade!

Slightly overhung crimps with bad feet aren’t usually crowd pleaser type boulders - but this one deserves some love. This is just to the right of Standing on the Head of the Dragon in Tramway.

I believe Dan Mills put this climb up over 15 years ago and there is no known second ascent. I have searched thoroughly online and can’t find anything about it. Maybe someone who has done the stand has also done the sit but once again, I couldn’t find anything. I managed to get the stand first which was FAd at v8 in the book back in 2005 but upgraded to v10 shortly after. This was at least 1 grade harder - this was exactly my style of climbing so it could be harder? It needs more sense for a better consensus on the grade.

My 10th v10 - Ubiquitous
The OG beta was weird, so I found a (5mm?) crimp in the middle of the boulder that I don’t think has ever been used. So I chalked it up and did it my own way.

Scarpetta - v9 ft. Augies dawgies

Got a new pair of redlines, this was day 2 breaking them in. I feel like it usually takes me a couple weeks to break in a new pair of shoes but these felt comfortable pretty much right out of the box. It’s nice to be back outdoors after a couple months of only plastic pulling.

No music for this post cuz the audio at the end is funny. Also can you tell we like our madrock crash pads.
