Stoked to finally be able to release this one. I wrote this years ago with @pagazaron and @poolboyy_music and we felt like we had a banger but didn't have anyone to sing on it so it sat around for years. A few years ago I discovered the immensely talented @loner.youth online and was thrilled when he agreed to throw down some vocals. Not only is he an amazing vocalist, but an incredible overall musician that can play pretty much every instrument. And it doesn't hurt that he is such a kind, chill guy as well. Please go check out his page, especially his YouTube videos. So glad his contribution cracked the code for this song, and we ended up with a sick 90s/2000s post-grunge kind of sound. Special thanks to @coreycoffman_ who recorded this song all those years ago. Always a pleasure to work with him. by @mattruske

The lyrics for Floodwater are not subtle. This song is about oil and gas companies (and other corporations) bleeding our planet dry for the bottom line. They have no qualms with dooming their children and grandchildren to drown, starve or burn to death, on a world that they continue to exploit and pollute, all so they can live for a few decades in relative wealth. These people do not give a fuck about you or me. If you can relate to this anger, then this song, and the lyric video in particular, with resonate with you. #iversun #makari #swancore #dancegavindance #circasurvive by @mattruske

I haven’t really posted about it much over the last few years as I guess I wanted to see if I could grow it “organically”, but fuck it. I have this music project called @iversunmusic and the first song in 4 years has been released today, called “Floodwater”. The song itself is about 8 years old and has gone through a few different iterations so I’d like to thank everyone who’s been involved along the way. @jj.po.well and I wrote this back in 2018. JJ is one of the most brilliant and talented guitar players I know and writing with him was effortless. He also threw down such a tasteful bass line on this track. I’d like to thank @poolboyy_music who laid down the drums for the first version of the track for a group that didn’t quite pan out. The song sat on the shelf for a while and then was rebirthed with a different approach, but I’m so grateful for Michael who is such a beast on the drums and a talented multi-instrumentalist himself. He played on the first two Iversun songs and there’s another one coming out in April that I can’t wait to show everyone. The drums on this version are from @hoejittle who I have been blessed to play in two previous bands with. Joe is an absolutely amazing drummer but also an amazing friend, and I feel so incredibly lucky whenever he’s down to write a song with me. On vocals is one of the most incredible singers I’ve ever heard, and that is @sandrorubbers . The fact that a singer of his caliber wanted to work with me makes me feel incredibly humbled. Lastly I gotta thank the wonderful homies @adaydrums and @little.beefy for their tracking, and mixing and mastering magic. I appreciate all of you so much. Thank you.
