It’s Grammy season so here’s a quick look at some of our work that was part of a Grammy-nominated spoken word project in 2024.

@prenticepowell1906 & @iamshawnwilliam are insanely talented writers and performers and collectively we teamed up with a shared vision starting back in 2021.

Lights, camera, action from then on. An album recorded live in front of an audience in Oakland, fully produced videos for poems on the album, and countless pieces of content driving eyes and ears to the project later we were Grammy nominees.🏅

I’ve never not been psyched on taking photos and making videos, but on most occasions, using my cameras has started to feel more like work over the last couple of years - I have lost sight of some of the joy it can bring me.

Climbing has sort of reignited that joy in me again. It’s become a pretty huge part of my life over the last couple of years and it’s given me something fun to point my camera at again.

San Francisco inspired me early on with a camera, and this rock on the beach below the bridge, is a huge connection point between those days shooting things for the fun of it and climbing. @madrockclimbing if you wanna sponsor the continuation of this…DMs are open lol. 👊

Literally can’t believe it’s already been that long since we’ve met. Also literally couldn’t be more proud of you, and of us.

Our time together started out during one of the biggest life changes you’ve ever made. I remember working hella hard to convince you that SF beats LA by….A LOT…and I’m so happy my hard work ended up landing you here 🥰

Watching you navigate what was not an easy transition across the country and dialing yourself in out here has been one of the most inspirational things I’ve ever witnessed. Your strength when things get tough and your dedication to everything you know you can do is something that I envy and respect more than anything. I look up to you big time! I’m so lucky to have you in my corner and so grateful for everything we’ve been able to navigate together.

Our Grammy campaign has been very intentional since its comception 16 months ago. It would be selfish of us to have the level of exposure and attention we currently do and not promote a message that extends far beyond ourselves.

This is Bigger Than Us.

Since the world is now watching, we want everyone to know there are black men doing the work necessary to heal.

Black men, it’s okay to be tired. It’s okay to not know what to do next, but you don’t have to do it alone.
