We rarely speak about women’s experiences in war and conflict. And when we do, what gets left out?

Two powerful animated short films from Brazil and Chile invite us to look again.

Searching Heleny, directed by Esther Vital (@matxinsa), traces the disappearance of Heleny Guariba during Brazil’s dictatorship — through textile art, memory, and the voices of those who loved her.

Bestia, directed by Hugo Covarrubias (@hcovarrubias) enters the inner world of a woman who had been a DINA agent and inflicted unimaginable violence on others.

The directors will share pre-recorded introductions, followed by a panel discussion with filmmakers, activists and academics on how films can carry such difficult truths about women and political violence.

📅 Friday 6th March
🕰 3.30–5.30PM
📍MAC Belfast

This screening is part of Sparks 25 through Belfast Film Festival; made possible with the support of BFI, awarding funds from the National Lottery. by @matxinsa

Heleny presente, ahora y siempre. by @matxinsa

🎬✨ Stop Motion tailerra 1. urteko 3D Animazio, Joko eta Ingurune Interaktiboetan

Azaroaren 7an, 1. urteko 3D Animazio, Joko eta Ingurune Interaktiboetako ikasleek stop motion teknikan oinarritutako tailer praktiko bat jaso zuten, Artajona Lab-en eta ¿Dónde está Heleny? filmaren zuzendari Esther Vital-en eskutik.

Egun osoan zehar, ikasi zuten eszenatokien eta pertsonaiak sortzeko teknika ezberdinak, objektu fisikoekin animazioa nola egin eta, batez ere, animatu gabeko objektuei bizia emateko magia 🎥
